Hello everyone, apologies for the delay, i'll claim real life and that better late than never. A right win double.

My wife likes to think she's streetwise, but I don't think so. If she was, there is no way she would be letting me give her sister "driving lessons" three times a week.

ITK continues to be pretty quite and my opening TW prediction of no signings is looking a pretty safe bet right now. On to what we have had.......

Peanut reckoned that Tim Krul would be our next goalkeeper
Peanut said:

I'm confident he will be our next goalkeeper
A statement which was met with almost universal approval. Until he makes a mistake. We're Spurs remember? Legend to shite in 3 easy games.

Archie then came out in support of Peanut.

I'd be surprised if you did. We leave that sort of thing to POTL.

Nah i'm kidding. :shifty: Here's what Archie actually said......

looking at loaning him back for season if we can do a sensible deal
And as we almost all agree, not a bad move. But not a striker.

My wife called me into the bedroom last night, opened the top drawer of her dressing table and said, "I've noticed that every pair of panties I own looks misshapen and the elastic on them is all stretched. Would you care to explain why what is".

"Well there's a perfectly simple explanation", I said "You have a massive arse".

In other news, Talksport say Dos Santos is a target for Villarreal

And finally,
What's an Essex girl's favorite wine?

"Come on babes, take me to Lakeside"
WE RELY ON YOU TO DONATE AND HELP KEEP SC RUNNING!

Krul would be fantastic and I hope it comes off. Though I'm also a big fan of Wayne Hennessey at Wolves. And still love Gomes.

Not sure i'd want us to take the risk on Ba, FFS he could do his knee in at ACN and come back to Spurs and never play a game.

Dembele is ok, but not at the level we need IMO.

Does seem like Levy is being a fucking tight arse again though.

Ah fresh new thread... out with the doom and gloom, let the excitement begin!

No takers?

Oh :-(

Yes to Krul! Would he be allowed to wield a sword and save the princess? I think so...

Hearing Dembele or Ba?
Ryan? Any news?

Dembele, we all know, is a target for sure. Fulham approached us for young Carroll. maybe we can sign Dembele and loan them Carroll for 18 months?

Demba Ba is a strange one. Harry was keen in the summer but even on a free, his knee is a massive risk.

It's another Woodgate...

I loved Woody, but the fear that everytime he played could be his last was ever present (except the Carling Cup season where he seemed to play every game! although I am sure he didn't).

Ba represents a masive gamble in this regard and I think sometimes its better to just let someone else reap the temporary rewards but run the risk and for us to go for a safer investment.

I don't undestand the Dembele link at all. He seems technically excellent but he shooting is not good enough for him to play as a striker. And he is not illusive enough or creative enough to play in the VDV role.

So what is his best position and where can he become effective for us?

Surprised we haven't agreed to a loan deal for Carroll already then, seems to be a good move for him.

This is the problem i think with Dembele, he's a bit like Kalou i think - quality player but doesn't fit into being either a Striker or a winger. And for me he really doesn't fit into our system, we'd need to be playing 3 up top for that to work, and we don't.

I think with our style of play, he offers the opportunity (a real opportunity) to Rotate. He can play Rafa's or Luka's role IMO

Please not Ba. He is this seasons Andy Carroll.

Not sure he is. He scored goals in a garbage Wham! team last year, and some of his goals this season have been pretty good. The one against Man Utd I thought was brilliant.

Yes his knee has issues, but if he was reasonably cheap I wouldn't mind him. Only problem for me is that he will be knackered after playing at the ACN.

He might be able to play Rafa's role but his shooting is awful.

I wouldn't see him playing in Lukas role though he doesn't seem to have the athleticism to get up and down the pitch and I have never ever seen him tackle.

I assume you mean Luka's role when we play Parker and Sandro in the centre of midfield? Cos I don't see Dembele playing as a centre mid.

He doesnt tackle because he intercepts like Modric and Carrick did before him. Seriously have a good look at his all round play, you might be surprised

I admit that his shooting definately needs improving, but when you weigh that against his strength, vision and ball retention it dont seem too bad

From the little I've seen of Dembele he'd offer us a number of options and could be a useful squad player. I'd much rather see him coming off the bench than Kranjcar for example.

Still doesn't deal with the striker issue though.

Is it possible that Newcastle know we are interested in both Ba and Krul and have asked us to buy both now for say £20m, so that they can say to their fans that they got a good deal? Rather than just selling us Ba for his £5m sell out clause which would make them look a bunch of mugs.
