Given the role wing backs are given in this modern style, I think they require more time than most to adapt to match level intensity in their role. Even at Aurier’s age, Walker and Rose were still considered mediocre and all potential, and for that reason I think we should stay patient with KWP’s development.

Also Herc’s Toby update pairs nicely with the Joachim Andersen quotes, though we may miss that opportunity if it takes too long to move Toby out.

At 26 rose and walker were considered mediocre? Lol.

Does anyone know who “the RB” Herc is referring to is?

Or does he just mean the RB position in general?

So it looks like our transfer targets for this window, based on the ITK for the last couple of weeks is as follows, have I missed anyone?

N'Dombele (likely), Celso (50/50), Clarke (likely), Sess (maybe?) RB (if we sell Trips, and KWP leaves) CB (if Toby goes)

Only if we sell Tripps or Serge!

Didn't think we would replace Toby, with Foyth and Sanchez around.

I’d be surprised if we didn’t.

If Toby leaves, that leaves us with Jan, Sanchez and Foyth, with potentially bit-part roles for Dier and CCV.

Not exactly an abundance of options, and with Jan not getting any younger, we’d be naïve to pass over the opportunity to sign a quality CB replacement for Toby if one came available IMO.

You are right, I guess. Would we buy a finished product, though, or a talent?

If, as some ITK has suggested could happen, are we going to be stronger than last year if the following happens:

IN: Lo Celso, N’Dombele, Clarke, Mystery CB

OUT: Eriksen, Tobi

It would mean we have lost 2 of our best players and haven’t upgraded on our weakest position last season, RB.

I appreciate that’s just one permutation of many but it does worry me a bit.

Thanks Herc. Pretty mixed info really.

Eriksen - excellent if he gets a new deal. I assume the clauses are reasonable. That said I hope it doesn't drag past the closure of the PL window. Worried it's another stalling/leverage play by his people.

Toby - Don't see how we come out of this stronger. Anderson would give us more balance but he's not relly Toby quality. Really hope we find out what happened that made the situation irreparable.

RB - Worries me we'll end up sticking with Aurier, KWP and a push Foyth. Would rather bolster this key position than hope for a sissoko style miracle (although it is possible with Poch). I like KWP but do worry about him physically. Needs a big preseason.

You do realise Aurier is only 3 years younger than Rose and Walker. 3 years ago Rose and Walker were absolutely tearing it up, they weren't potential.
Sorry, you have had a mare there.

Toby is the odd one, why Poch is so keen to let him go, had a very good season and was hoping that they had mended the fall out

Still find it incredible that we're apparently so keen to move Toby on. He should be the lynchpin of our defence for the next 3 years while we look for our long term Jan replacement.

Interesting about third goalkeeper in Hercules ITK.

I know he stated that part as his opinion re: not rating Whiteman, although I thought he was well thought of by regular posters in the spurs youth thread?

Will be interesting to see if we keep Whiteman as third goalkeeper or do indeed bring someone else in.
