Pletikosa or Loach? or will it mean Carlo is on his way out and we are getting 2 new back-up keepers..?

Cudicini only signed a new contract a few weeks ago.

Loach just seems a very poorly researched/thought about rumour for the Mirror to run.

So if Townsend is staying for now, it must mean we're looking for a left sided player (most likely a right footed left attacker). We've been linked with plenty, but if we don't get anyone in then Townsend could be a useful squad player. Same with Caulker.

So are the 3 players Harry mentioned 1x centre back, 1x defensive midfielder and 1x wide striker? or is he after a centre forward?

There probably is stuff going on, I just haven't heard it myself

Right my point is there is nothing going on, so people don't have to post here for the sake of it. This isn't the Daily talk about anything thread.

But the club has a history of exercising options just so we don't lose players for free (Stephen Kelly is one i partixcularly remember - shipped out only a few weeks after a new contract was announced).

Fulham are said to be interested in Carlo and he's probably want to go and be a number 1 if schwarzer leaves so Levy may have made sure that we can demand a fee.

Rebrab - Re what you asked me yesterday, apparently we enquired before the end of the season but didnt really like the price. Harry went and watched him and and was impressed. However dont look like anything will happen soon as he is out for a while.

Everyone else - No problems up stairs for definate. Harry and the money people are working in cohesion, and they are pulling in the right direction. Harry says that there are some players out there that require big transfers and big wages. But not all players do, so he is prepared to sit and wait and get the players he wants in on our terms. Seems like Levy has rubbed off on him. We are working very hard behind the scenes talking to clubs about targets all the time and also working just as hard to ensure that some of our younger players get placed at the best loan clubs available to them. Harry really see's that as important and he is genuinely excited about some of our boys, gave a big mention about Caulker and Townsend.

No new names to give aside from what Rebrab asked about. Robbie Keane and Alan Hutton (O'hara also if he can get fitter) are the only big names likely to be moved on at the moment. Villa, Birmingham and the spammers the most suited!

Cheers Guys and bring on the Young Boys!

Interesting, good to see we were following Jovetic, maybe we'll check back next year.

I really wonder what our plan for a striker is. Our lack of striking prowess was pretty evident in the 2nd half of the season last year. Crouch, Pav, and Defoe, assuming they all stay, all have roles to play and are pretty good, but if we want to stay in the top four and have a respectable run in the champion's league we really need to bring in someone to be first choice.

Everywhere else in the squad our first choices are good enough for now I think, and we can make do with injuries/suspensions when they come. Say if Dawson, King, and Bassong were all out at the same time, playing Kaboul and Huddlestone at CB wouldn't be ideal but it wouldn't be THAT bad. However our best case scenario of playing Crouch or Pav up front on their own against Inter Milan or someone doesn't sound too fun.

So I wonder what's up with all the screwing around with Bellamys and Parkers...do we have a striker lined up but want to sell Keane first? Are we still looking for targets since the obvious ones are looking too expensive? Are we hoping to save a couple million by waiting a couple weeks?

Everyone wants to have a strong hand at the negotiating table. If we sell Keane then we become more vulnerable to being overpriced for someone else. Similarly, If we keep Keane but buy the replacement before selling him, we become vulnerable to getting a lower value on Keane. It is just gonna take City to actually invest in the premier league rather than abroad to trigger things off.

Villa will get a good deal on Milner, and invest on players that they have already negotiated for. hence the domino effect will kick in.

I honestly beleive that we are speaking to players that have shown a willing to play for us in the Champions League. It's not just wishful thinking its logic. It is however a risky game to play, but as we say at this football club Audere Est Facere!

Off topic (sorry Mods, but is indirectly Spurs related). That Boro keeper Jones, is a done deal to Liverpool. My playing friend at Boro whom told me, also said they will now get a new GK in and have enquired about Cudcini. He didnt know anymore

point taken, my apologies

Speaking personally I'd rather see a post saying "There's nothing going on" than not seeing anything and wondering whether there really is nothing going on or I'm just out of the loop.

i'd expect that our draw against young boys will increase Levy's willingness to spend, especially if we get a goof result in the first leg.

Agreed. I can imagine we can really look to push along some transfers now.

Players who are waiting for our champions league qaulification may be pursuaded to take a gamble if we are 2+ goals up after the first leg with the home to follow. Especially as not one of the harder teams.
May give us a much needed extra week to negotiate and prevent small issues making deals fall through
