From City's point of view they can also set the rules, for example he wouldn't be able to play in the games against us. It's all on their terms.

i dont think its relevant who else were in for him - i dont remember any clubs being in for Modric when we signed him? Actually i think Newcastle were.................

Same could be said about Gomes, Berbatov as well

Those were exceptional circumstances.

Ok, how about Carrick, a Champions League winning midfielder, only being able to sign for a non European, never before in the top 6, mid table Spurs?

How about Champions League winner Muntari, real Madrid enforcer Lass, Man U star Valencia or even players like our very own Kranjcar, Palacios and Bassong. Was their entry into this league at lessers clubs an exceptional circumstance every time as well?

West Ham never "signed" those players, they were more or less forced upon them - something they've been paying for since as it was against the Premier League rules. It wasn't as though big clubs wouldn't have wanted those 2 players, everyone knew about them  It was just a strange opportunity that arised and they took it, they never owned them. If they hadn't been owned by agencies and belonged to a club then I'm sure the big clubs would've been interested.

You're completely missing my point leGin, please stop.

can't see us getting bellamy on loan, definitely they won't pay part of his wages for us IMHO - why would they do us a favour?

i would have thought one of bellamy or remy is possible - can't see both

I just think it's silly of you to state that you lack hope in a players potential or ability based on which clubs he might be signing for.

brett.spurs is right though, you can't look at the Tevez and Mascherano deals as they were exceptional in how they worked and i can't ever see a deal like that being allowed again in the PL.

no new from ryanteagen i take it?

All I said was that it's not a great sign that clubs like Stoke/West Ham seem to be the ones most interested, not that we shouldn't persue him because of it. Most of our squad has been assembled by signing from smaller clubs, I have no problem with it at all.

The Tevez/Mascherano situation isn't even comparable.

Given that West Ham are traditionally are feeder club, there is a certain argument to try and buy their top targets at the start, rather than waiting a couple of years then paying them more. Not that they'll sell to us anymore.

Besides, we can all name plenty of players that the traditional top four signed that we are glad we weren't in the market for.

I really can't see why either Chelsea, Man Utd or Arsenal would be in for Remy tbh. I know City wont either (because he isn't a big name), and Liverpool have a new striker in Jovanovic. So i'm not surprised if there's not many great options for him.

Wasn't there a certain Champions League winning striker at Zaragoza who chose Genoa over Spurs a few seasons back

We actually have a symbiotic relationship with the Spammers. They do indeed fulfill the function of feeder-club to (the) Spurs; they also provide the role of waste disposal unit for our old, knackered and plain shit rejects.

A win/win for all around.

Sorry buddy, built that up a bit much yesterday. Basically my boss tried ringing Harry up until about half 9 last night but he was not back in from working (could be a good thing )

Dont think that from what Sandra said, there are any real problems between Harry and the board though. This was the main reason for ringing him. He must have spoken to Harry by now though.

Might have something tomorrow

Keep you all posted of course
