L'equipe this morning reported quotes from Nice CEO Patrick Governatori saying that if Liverpool & West Ham give up on signing Remy, he could go to Stoke or Rennes. Again no mention about us. I wonder if we've stepped up our interest today after hearing things were hotting up re: his visit to Stoke?

Every player we've been linked with this window has been chokingly mediocre.

27 goals in 72 appearances doesn't fill me with hope

25 in 66 during the last two years for an average side in a low scoring league. That's not bad, but it's a broad stat and probably doesn't tell the whole picture as Berglad was able to do to show that Cordoza's numbers are frighteningly poor.

I don't think you can judge a player by the teams that are interested in him (Cardiff were linked with Bellamy!). He's available for about £12m, young & not the finished article. In these times most clubs can't afford to take the chance on potential at that price. The player has stated his intention to play in the Premier League so he owes it to himself to follow up on all options available to him but I still can't see him signing for Stoke.

Got a text saying Bellamy on loan, wont happen till nearer the end of the window.

I know thats the most wafer thin of information but I have no reason to doubt the person that said it to me, he works in football and always tries to find out Spurs information for me when he can, like who we're scouting in the lower leagues and such. It sounds like he's spoken to an agent or something in my opinion so it could just be a rumour picked up off a place like this but its still worth knowing that its being banded about.

Not trying to bag a scoop, Mods can PM me to verify I'm not a WUM if they want to.

So first BEN and now another saying Bellamy on loan should / could happen. I wonder why it's later on in the window as he wouldn't be able to play against City 1st match anyway?

Possibly because City are awaiting the arrival of another player before they will release him and want to him to come to one of their rivals as late as possible.

They have 35 players and still want to add. They need players off their books as soon as possible.

which is strange why they would leave it until the end of the window. As soon as they have to submit their 25 man squad it will be obvious who is then leaving.

I'm not sure whether BEN has said about Bellamy on loan, but pretty sure The Goat was the first to say it could be a loan move a couple of weeks back.

It seems strange to me, I can understand us being happy with a loan move, but if City want rid then you would have thought they'd want to sell him on a permanent deal.

If they sell him at a huge loss, they set a precedence. If they loan him, nobody thinks much about it.

Marouane Chamakh - 79 goals in 293 appearances

Both play in France, Chamakh is 3 years older in a team that finished 6th compared to Remy whose team finished 15th last season.

Remy was joint 4th top scorer with 14 goals in 33 games(Nice scored 41 in the season)
Chamakh scored 10 goals in 32 games (Bordeux scored 58 in the season)

Still no idea what he's like though

Would now be a good time to point out that Remy, at 23, has 25 in 66 league games for mediocre side Nice in a relatively strong French league, while Henry, playing for then strong side Monaco in a weaker French league, left France age 22 with a record of 20 goals in 105 league games.

From the little I gather her seems the archetypal Franco-African forward, strong, fast, skillful, confident. The clips I've seen look more Anelka than any other, but that's obviously only the limited scope that one can gain from youtube. Any of the ligue 1 followers care to comment? (Not Spursking)

It's never a bad time to point those stats out.

Also to anyone saying that because Stoke and Wham are in for him he is obviously below us, who were the first team in the Premiership to sign Tevez and Mascherano?

Spot on. Wilson played for Brum and Wigan before us, Valencia for Wigan before United.

I don't know enough about this guy and have never seen him play but if we are interested in him and end up signing him don't write him off just because Stoke wanted him too. Harry and co have generally been pretty good in the transfer market and his goal record is hardly shite.

Good point, though you would have thought someone would be willing to give them 8 million for him? I'd be happy if we can get him in either way. A loan with City paying his wages sounds good to me
