Harry explaining why he wants Bellamy and Parker, two players with a combined age of over 60:

"If you're going to be really successful you need a few men in your team, not lads that are learning," he said.

"We've got a good group of players but two or three players with experience would make a massive difference to the team. You look at Inter Milan – they won the Champions League with a team of men, they were all experienced players. You need players with experience."

Hard to fault his logic in many ways. Our squad still does appear very callow at times. I just don't rate Parker, but am prepared to trust Harry's judgement.

looking at KUMB the other day, they were saying Parkers got a persistient knee injury, which wont go away, hence why there trying to cash in, if this is the case lets hope the medical people pick up on it, past performance in detecting crocks leave a lot to be desired.

The problem is there is a thin line between "men" and Gus Poyet being unable to run (or Woodgate being unable to play). I cannot see what the point of Scott Parker, a career mid-table player with a history of injury, would be- just not that good. It marks a 180 degree shift in transfer policy- just after the old one got us to 4th.

And frankly, Harry has trust issues in the transfer market, however well he has managed us.

I'm pretty sure if Bellamy played as many games as a striker for us as Defoe he would score at least as many goals as Defoe, possibly a couple more. He never has because mostly managers have played him wide.

I'd take him in place of Keane or Defoe as I like the little fella, he's got good technique, quick and brave and I personally like his attitude, but he's still not the leap of class that I think we need to progress or stay ahead of ManC and Liverpool.

and I'd also be worried about his fitness over the course of a season.

I think you have answered your own question there. Two reasons why he would not be a good replacement for either is that few managers have ever picked as the main 'goalscoring' striker and he has fitness issues. He did well at Blackburn but that's it really.

I just don't think he is a great finisher, that isn't to say he wouldn't do as well or better than Defoe or Keane but it's hard to be "pretty sure". As for his attitude, it is enigmatic at best and at worst divisive and unnecessarily aggressive.
