I wouldn't trust anyone in the current squad to score more than half the time bar Vertonghen!

Not massively. There was a suggestion before last season that he was a flat track bully of the smaller teams (something we could do with tbf) but he started scoring big goals against the likes of Barca and Real over the past season or more to put that knock against him to bed.

He scores pens yes, but wins a few tbf too. Van Nisteelrooy used to score a lot of pens too remember

5 of his 24 La Liga goals last season were pens. So not really.

We only got Naughton because they practically offered us BOGOF when we picked up Walker.

He's not terrible... But I do prefer him to stay on the bench.

Ok, i read this as:
Last year when we almost bought him we got a first refusal clause.
We are in danger of losing that should no agreement be reached by saturday.
At which point Liverpool or similar could move in on this.
