What scares me a bit is sometimes our players flatter to deceive. So a few training seasons and a couple of half hearted games with unfit opponents might make Ange things they are better than they are. Preseason has a habit of that (I was there when we smashed Roma)

Given his experience, he surely knows that impressive performances in pre-season should be taken as the absolute minimum. No team they're facing on tour is equal to Brentford or Man United - pre-season is about showing they deserve just to be in the conversation for a squad place in competiive matches.

From my understanding of it the style of play, the philosophy itself of Postecoglu's football is not just different to Conte's it is about as different as it gets, the complete opposite so I guess it may well be that it will suit some players far better and Ange realises that, we may be surprised.

I would have thought we are too far down the road for some players to successfully make a comeback. If Gio and Tanguy haven’t had a positive impact by now, I can’t see them miraculously turning it around.

At least in Perth we will have a fluent Orstralian speaker to help our lads understand the lingo

Ange wants to see more, and also some in game situations before decisions are finalized. That's why so many are going on the tour. Some I expected to be automatic outs have been impressing which is why he feels he needs to see more.

VdV everything has been agreed between the clubs for a couple of days, no idea why we haven't finalized. I was told on Thursday we were looking to push it through, then it just went silent.

Lots of interest in quite a few players. Once Ange has made his mind up I can see a few leaving quickly.
Thanks trix. That old adage of “It’s not done till it’s done “

I think all but the cb's can be redeamable. I think they'll be even more exposed in this system.

Maybe, but people react differently to different types of personality. The shouty, aggressive manager may well get a less positive reaction than a slightly quieter, fatherly type character. If Ange can get the best out of them, and wants them to stay, who are we to complain!

two new talented cbs are required to be successful in any regard next season imo

I agreed with this. But then started daydreaming that he could do something with what we have. He managed it with CCV. It's the stuff of fantasy, but imagine if he could turn shite to gold.

Are you saying Ange doesn't have the shouty aggressive side? Have you watched the videos?

No, not at all. I think to manage a squad of that side you have to be comfortable with the shouty part of managing, but it's what your normal state of mind is that matters. I had to manage those sort of numbers, not in the sporting context, without having to do much shouting at all, and got great results out of the team!
