I'm trying to understand it from Pochs perspective. Okay we can get tielemans for like 20m apparently, but lets be real is that one player gonna do anything to the squad? So Poch is probably thinking whats the point. He's not a world beater; a young player with high potential. Poch probably wants him (thats if he actually want him) alongside a major signing which is why the budget I assume that is available is annoyingly low.

I think Poch is pretty confident he can achieve top 4 without signing anyone this window, hence the stubbornness. If I were him I'd be tempted to take 1-2 now, just so that's 1-2 less to worry about in what's looking to be a busy summer ahead for us.

Depends who they are, we can't clog the toilet further, we have spent the last 2 windows trying to flush turds already. If we can sign quality then great but I'd rather just make sure we get the remaining shit clear ready for the summer.

I think both JJ and Herc have intimated that he has turned down some good options, I highly doubt we are talking about Stamboulis and N'Koudous here.

I do wonder if it would reach a point where DL would say "f*ck it" and bring one of those players that he and the other 2 on the committee rate (but Poch doesn't) just bc it makes business sense to hedge against Poch flying too close to the sun and missing out on the CL.

LOL that's funny.

It would be interesting to hear where the differences lie between Poch and Levy lie on terms of targets.

Has Poch just decided he wants certain players and that is that or has he been told by the players camps that they are attainable?

And whether you like Levy or not, he works in the best interests of the club. So has he been rebuffed in approaches for the players Poch wants or are their wage demands beyond a point that we can realistically accommodate (doesn’t necessarily mean monetarily)?

Edit: It pains me that I have to say this but to be clear, I am thinking aloud and not questioning the ITK

Having read the latest ITK, Poch clearly feels there’s no point jamming the squad with foreigners who aren’t mustard. No point. Sell a load, buy real quality, promote from within.

Again if this is the case, than to me is Poch’s final stance - give me the best players I asked or I’m gone.

Accumulated from the last few windows’ results really, Janssen or not.

Like someone said on here the other day, we just can’t afford to stay in top 4 right now.

"Poch is being AVB-esque in his choices"
his era will probably end like AVB then  history repeats doesn't it
It won't because if you care to read Poch's comments he is heavily invested in the project. Just because he's been stubborn on signings doesn't mean he's moping about not happy with everything.

can the project be "completed" when we are going to lose our key players without proper replacement?

I genuinely can’t believe that Poch looks around the dressing room everyday and sees Nkoudou drawing Goku from Dragon Ball Z, Janssen man-marking the urninals, Wanyama getting defibrillated, Llorente asking Trippier which boot goes on which foot and Trippier being stumped by it, and thinks “yes. This is a team of champions, how could I ever improve this?”

We sold Berba, Bale, Modric et all and look where we are now. This whole selling our quality players and won't get adequate replacement is nonsense. I bet we will be in the market, either for already proven quality or the likes of Foyth, Alli etc who will improve in time. We have continually gone on an upward trajectory regardless.

Anyway, that's for another thread.
