Blanc is first and foremost a great motivator. He is not much of a tactician. For people who disliked Harry because of the lack of tactics, you should not be hoping for Blanc to be much of an upgrade in that department.

I'm not sure his comments this morning of "You have to be optimistic to think we can beat Spain, but it's hard right now to imagine we can" .... will motivate his players to beat Spain.

Re Drogba - he's gone to China.

Sounds like the perfect man for the job. You don't want a #2 who is a yes man. You want someone who counters your weaknesses and challenges you.

Wilkins' criticism of AVB has primarily been a defence of the professionalism of the Chelsea players to whom he is loyal. I can see Wilkins as the perfect go between/good cop between AVB and our players.

Also remember that AVB got his first job in the game by criticising Bobby Robson. Robson turned around and said "go on then, show me how it should be done" and employed him as a youth team coach.

I dont understand why people would come in here and whinge about ITK.

If you dont like it then dont bother reading it, what do you expect daily exclusives ?

Take it for what it is, people sharing what they heard, nothing more nothing less.

That has put me right off him tbh, I would end up punching the screen if he said 'you have to be optimistic to think we can beat arsenal but it's hard right now to imagine we can'

I have absolutely no knowledge of AVB's early years with Sir Bobby but I'll still bet my mortgage on the fact that what you've posted never happened like that. It's a Danxaggerated version of events.

Now now children...

He was actually employed to compile stats first, according to this anyway.

I know that's what I was thinking. It hardly fills you with confidence in the bloke.

Just to counter the Ashcroft version:

'...for die-hard Porto fan Villas-Boas, the Englishman[Bobby Robson] was making a big mistake in keeping striker Domingos Paciencia on the bench too often.
The youngster wrote to Robson raising his concerns and the UEFA Cup-winning coach responded by asking him to supply data to support his argument. He soon did. Back Villas-Boas sent a raft of statistics and arguments pinpointing why he was correct.
Robson was so impressed that he offered the Portuguese a trainee position with the youth team's coaching staff'

That does more to support dan than counter it...
