I'm gonna maintain that I don't really mind us signing Moses, I personally think that he would be a decent swap for Andros if he leaves.

In terms of CM, right now it seems like McCarthy, Rabiot and Mario Suarez are the targets we know about but there could and likely are others that we have on the list with only 1 of them to come in.

Strikers, after the weekend, seem to be Berahino and Hernandez. Personally, a striker trio of those two along with Kane sounds appealing to me and would be a considerable upgrade on Soldado and Ade.

Yes agree to all that, but we're spurs. We always let the wrong one in.

Carrick, Berbatov, Modric, Bale, Hugo, Eriksen. Thing is with many fans you only ever hear how they haven't been replaced, forgetting the fact they were exceptional buys in the first place.

I think it's not unreasonable to assume at this point that we won't see any other new signings in place and ready to start for the United game which is frustrating.

But I think much of that is because we've been focusing on the top targets (Schneiderlin etc.) and we now need to move to the next level.

I think the money we've accepted for the outgoing players shows that 'penny-pinching' isn't going to be as much of an issue this window.

Its also symptomatic of the transfer window. Everyone is waiting for movement which typically happens in the last two weeks (taking gambles, players not available become available, prices change, clubs / players get desperate, lining up alternatives which are all inter-linked).

I don't view it as a club f*** up if we don't get any additions before kick off as that's the way it works.... however... I do expect them to add a couple during prior to the close of the window.

Jasper on SO - with an explanation of how things work

Please understand that as desperate as we are to get ALL deals done well before KO, it is just not that simple. We have to wait for selling club/s to line up their replacements as well as other contractual issues the player wants resolved with their present club. For instance a certain transfer was concluded last week. The player wanted to go to a London club, and his reps had discussions regardless of what the manager may admit. Many were saying to me he was bound to sign for that club. I told them he would end up at the particular club for obvious reasons. As much as they thought they (London club) could get him it was not going to happen.

I was with another player's agent who believed his player would sign for us and was convinced it would happen. That player who he manages signed for another club, of which I cannot blame him. You just never know and why difficult to call. A certain chairman is in deep discussions with DL who he gets along with, and hopes are high more his end. Only problem is the players in question is not our Plan B or C. Possibly Plan D.

Wow. We need Scooby Doo and his team to crack this case

You think so? I think it would be a CF (Maybe Saido) on the premise that if something were to happen to Kane (touch wood), we will not have ample cover, but we have Bentaleb, Mason, Alli (even Dembele) to cover CM. Also have TA, Veljkovic or Winks to cover CM. So priority to me for incoming is a CF.
Yes, but why would it be dependent on Stambouli leaving?

It was meant tongue in cheek. I am an optimist at heart. We will buy the best players our finances will allow and get on with it.
Sounds like we still have a long way to go in this window. Still can't understand why no-one has come in for Lennon.

A chairman who gets along with DL??? Well that must be a pretty short list...

I'll be fucked if I've got a clue what Jasper is saying...something about transfers being a complicated process...

The Goat tells us that getting someone in this week is dependent on Adebayor and Stambouli going. If that is our transfer strategy- that we need to get rid of two more fringe players before we get anyone else in, we are really going nowhere.

Before it snowballs…………...It is of zero concern to Spurs and this thread in particular who the player mentioned in Jaspers post was/is.

But well played on finding yet another way to take the thread away from its intended course.

This has been our strategy for a while. There is a case to say we can't just buy lots of players and have all the so called deadwood stay. Just hope we get all our outs done quickly
