I'm not sure I understand Jasper's info.

So we are working on two players, a DM and a Striker, and if they come off we'll be pleased.

But we are also in for McCarthy (presumably not one of the two above) and he is expecting a Belgian forward (also not one of the two above)?

I read it as McCarthy being kept warm was the back-up for the exciting prospect (Rabiot or equivalent)

JJ comments more on McCarthy posts than anything else, so I'd say he was the plan A.

Unless there's some opinion in there and he likes JM and prefers a more experienced head in there (which is sound TBF) and isn't as keen on the 'exciting' DM target...

No - it goes a long way back. Since Sherwood took over the NextGen coaching after Inglethorpe left. Troy's a regular on Radio 5 and never misses a chance to call out Sherwood as a charlatan.

1) Yep Jasper is on the money with a lot of this. McCarthy stuff is a bit wayward though about price.Regardless of what Martinez says, he wants to come to us and is really keen, that i can guarantee.
Still lots of possibilities up front and all exciting up and coming players plus a few other options. (that basically could cover all players in the world!!)
He's right about agents pushing players to us and also the end of the window events is not what we want and not through our choice its just when the business happens and players become available.
Just because you are not hearing about ITK doesn't mean things aren't moving about.

2) I wouldn't get too hung up on the Belgian forward just quietly...

McCarthy - 182 appearances between 2 PL clubs, 27 International Caps
Mason - 31 appearances for 1 PL Club, 1 International Cap

Experience isn't the same as ageing....

I'm older than Eric Dier, but he's certainly a little more experienced than me when it comes to professional football....

How many league games has ,McCarthy played for Wigan and Everton? That's why I'd say people would label him experienced, or at least relatively speaking.

I actually read it as well as McCarthy being lined up but that he still wasn't our priority choice.

Who knows, think we could still be in for a couple of surprises this window...

Agree... 177 PL appearances for Everton & Wigan, that's experienced!!!
