Bahrain Victorious have been hampered by police raids, a number of teams withdrew from Swiss tour due to Covid so how will they be affected.

IG have 3 protected riders so maybe focused on stage wins only.

Did Bahrain get raided last year or was that Arkea? Those raids (during a Grand Tour) seem like something from a bygone era...weird.

What did I miss here? Is this drug related?

I guess they'd back whoever felt the best but due to all the shenanigans that go on in the sprint he may be able to act as a lone wolf.
He'd be fine doing that, but I think they'd make a point of backing Jakobsen given they selected him in front of Cav. Would look a bit odd saying 'Jakobsen is our best sprinter, we're taking him to the tour', and then putting the team on a lead-out for Cav when he is subbed in last minute.

In my entirely made up dream scenario, Cav flies over Thursday night as a last minute replacement, wins Stage 2 after Geraint Thomas organises a Team GB lead out, then sticks two fingers up and retires on 35 stage wins.

Never gonna happen.

Or is it?

Nah.

Really enjoyed the Tour so far, and Vingegaard smashing Pogacar up today's stage really puts the cat amongst the pigeons.

Just finished watching the stage (paused it for the football). JV did a real job on Pogacar today. We'll see how good his powers of recovery are because it's just as tough tomorrow. I think that'll have dealt him a pretty large psycological blow, especially as his team aren't as strong as JV, bar one or two exceptions.

Good work from G too, just kept plodding along and he's in a good position for the podium. The atmosphere on the Alp d'uez is going to be incredible, especially if Bardet, Godeau or Barguil can get in amongst it again.

Probably the craziest Tour stage I've ever seen, with the GC attacks starting already on the second climb. I had a feeling Vingegaard would drop Pogi today, but the way it happened was out of this world. Even more satisfying cause he's Danish.

Yes Tom Pidcock! Maiden Tour victory on the Alp D'uez with a superb ride. Chapeau to Chris Froome for third, and another solid ride from G, finishing with Pogi and Vingegaard to consolidate 3rd place on GC.

Really enjoyed that. Not quite as explosive and in-your-face as yesterday, but so many sub-plots.

Had the coverage on my phone whilst working, was getting mad with them as they kept switching back to the GC guys as TP was in the final km. Great to see the young and the old leading from the front given where they are in their careers and the misfortune Froom had in 2019.

Couldn't believe it when the motorbike showed they were clocking over 100 kmph on the downhill sections at times and kudos to Froome given the mental scars of his crash in 2019.

3 Brits in the top 10 is not something I would have bet on before the tour and given the glimpse of other riders such as Fred Wright there seems to be a bright future for British cycling.

Cant stand all this stages bollocks

Much prefer a one off 250km road race anyday

Still remember the one from the 08 olympics won by Sanchez riding up and down the great wall of china, brillant

Watching the final from the garden by Louvre, just in front of the Obelisk - perfect view! Even got a chair. And a couple bottles of wine, Comte and baguette ?

Sad news. British cycling legend and first Brit to win a stage of the Tour de France Brian Robinson died today age 91.

So Cav looks like he will be joining Astana and Ineos have released their new kit, 'visibly fast'.

That'd look alright without all the sleeve nonsense. Not a fan of asymetric designs, makes it hard to pick teams and riders out in a peloton.

Astana sounds like 'any port in a storm' for Cav. Not sure if that's a good fit, but it at least gives him a shot. They're also signing Cees Bol so he's got some work to do to get a place on the Tour.

So Cav has confirmed his move to Astana. Let's see how this pans out, hopefully better than his time at Bahrain.

Also be interesting To see how Yates and others who have moved get on in their new teams.

That's good to hear, he's had a bit of a time of it last few months. Not sure if Astana are the best fit for him, but at least he's got a chance. I reckon if Astana told him he has a place on the Tour but he's going to have to do it 'freelance' he'd snap their hand off.
