Roy, Root, Denly, Bairstow And Buttler must surely know their england careers rest on this innings.

Yes, it’s the final innings of the game but it’s essentially a day two wicket. Go and save the Ashes*

*Fully aware that every player I’ve just listed will score less than 50 runs together.

You can get 10/11 that the match finishes today. Lets be honest, that's a cracking price, I'll be surprised if it hasn't finished before tea.

Guarantee at least 3/5 start the next test, can only see them dropping one of denly/Roy.
It’s not what I would do but that’s what will happen imo

Personally i’d drop Denly for Sibley, Bairstow for Foakes and move Roy further down the order. He deserves a chance to bat at the position he actually plays red ball cricket in for Surrey.

I think England will salvage this either that or we will be like 150-0 then

I would drop Denly and Buttler depending on how they do today/tomorrow.
Denly is not up to it at test level and England are in no position to have a specialist batsman at no 7.
Burns
sibley
Root
Ballance
Roy
Stokes
Bairstow
Is how I would go.
Ballance I know would be controversial as he has failed in the past but his record in CC stands out compared to the other England batsman and I think he is more likely to grin out tough runs in the middle order than other attacking gunho batsman that we seem to produce

Here we go, they're saying you should leave that but that's the consequence of Burns' square on technique, makes it harder to do it.

Edit: Here we really go, decent ball to Roy but he's got in a huge tangle stuck on the crease.

done by tea. what an utter embarrassment.

Root has to quit as captain and move back to 4.

Burns isn’t good enough. neither is Denly.

lots of players waiting for a chance, who would do no worse than this lot - Sibley, Crawley, Hain, Foakes, Hildreth, S Curran to name a few.
