Welll they spent money on only one player on their first season. For 2.5 million, he was a flop. Not exactly true, when they got promoted to the championship, they had the highest spend in league one, dwarfing everyone else.
When they were in the championship, they were only outspent by Notts Forest, 'Boro & Leeds, but they also had far less income to net off against. Leeds & Forest were also hit with transfer embargos for breaking FFP rules.
In their promotion years, they were heavily bankrolled by their majority shareholder Maxim Demin through massive loans.
They hit the Prem at the right time with the new tv deals etc.
Not saying they haven't got a right to be playing premier league football, every club has (except mk dons), but it isn't exactly a fairytale in them getting from the bottom to the top, they got their success in the same way most other club do, out spending the rest.
In the second season they got Callum Wilson for £3 million, and Surman for a small sum. In those seasons they only sold one player for a significant sum, Grabban for £3m.
In two seasons Bournemouth spent about £3m net, thats not a lot.
