Not exactly true, when they got promoted to the championship, they had the highest spend in league one, dwarfing everyone else.
When they were in the championship, they were only outspent by Notts Forest, 'Boro & Leeds, but they also had far less income to net off against. Leeds & Forest were also hit with transfer embargos for breaking FFP rules.
In their promotion years, they were heavily bankrolled by their majority shareholder Maxim Demin through massive loans.
They hit the Prem at the right time with the new tv deals etc.

Not saying they haven't got a right to be playing premier league football, every club has (except mk dons), but it isn't exactly a fairytale in them getting from the bottom to the top, they got their success in the same way most other club do, out spending the rest.
Welll they spent money on only one player on their first season. For 2.5 million, he was a flop.

In the second season they got Callum Wilson for £3 million, and Surman for a small sum. In those seasons they only sold one player for a significant sum, Grabban for £3m.

In two seasons Bournemouth spent about £3m net, thats not a lot.

As we know, transfer fees aren't the only factor. Why would highly sort after players like Tyrone Mings (£8m) and Callum Wilson, along with a host of players coming from the Prem join a team that finished 11th in the champo the previous season?

I like that Bournemouth are in the Prem, mainly because I don't like the "big clubs only" attitude. But it was hardly Hollywood stuff in their rise.

Mings joined after they got promoted. Made perfect sense for the player and the club. Wilson was a league 1 player who was unproven in the championship, and was there to replace Gabban who scored more goals in the Championship than Mings had in League 1 that season.

The players coming from a prem team? I guess you mean:

-36 year old Ian Harte, who was struggling to get a game in the Premier League and essentially was only ever going to last a season or so, I doubt there was too much interest in him.

Elliot Ward, a player who was unable to cement a position at Norwich even when they were in the Championship, not exactly a big signing

Dan Gosling - A player who had played 30 games in 4 years for Newcastle, did well in Blackpools relegation survival in the championship when on loan so was given a chance of a step up at Bournmouth.

Thats it, I guess you could count Surman, who was signed from the championship but was loaned to Bournmouth from the Premier League. He was a player who again was little more than a rotation option for Norwich in the Championship and barely got a game in the PL.He also had previously played for Bournmouth so had ties to the club.

These are not big names, they are not names that Premier League hopefuls would go for, There is a reason Norwich signed Grabban from Bournmouth and not Wilson and after selling Grabban Bournmouth had to spend big to replace there star player. Going for a highly rated, but unproven kid from League 1 was a good move, but its not as surprising as you make out.

I'm not saying they did it without money, my point is their team that was promoted was essentially the same team that they had in league 1, a lot their players were not even particularly fancied league 1 players and they have sticked around. There was money, a considerable investment, particularly in league 1, but they did not financially dope themselves into

Went to Forest - Cardiff today, going groundhopping this week and next. Don't want Cardiff in the PL, they put in a time wasting masterclass WBA would be proud of and hit Forest twice with a set piece and a counter attack. Forest were awful, slow and ponderous.

I should've gone to Southampton instead...

Brentford just coughed up a 2-0 lead in 4 minutes of injury time for 2-2 at QPR. Absolutely tragic defending.

I was there. It was tragic.

QPR deserved nothing from that game. Smithies made three top drawer saves to keep the score down and they created jack all really. The fans I sat with (the few that were left) couldn't believe it.

I've got a soft spot for Brentford, My brother in law (who's a decent chap) is a life long fan, Benham also interests me.

Your getting about, football wise, how come ?

Two weeks of holiday and decided to go groundhopping for a bit of it. Got Charlton - Peterborough tomorrow.

Am I right in thinking you're Norwegian ? Are you based in the UK ?

How are you choosing these games ?

North London originally, based in Norway now. Still have family and friends here so I'm over visiting people and going to games.

Really no huge plan other than seeing which games were on which day and easy for me to get to, so London games are always good. No affiliation or anything, just for a game at a new place. Forest - Cardiff yesterday I chose over Southampton - Everton because I thought Southampton were so dull this season (hardy-harr to me there), I'd decided as it was Sunday that I could do a bit of a trek. I've got friends in High Wycombe so I'm going to Wycombe-Leatherhead in the Cup on Sunday to meet up with them.

Not decided what to do Saturday tbh. Risky trying the black market outside Vicarage Road if I want to see Spurs but there's not a lot else interesting around London (and I'm not doing Arse-Man U).

Cool, like it.

Millwall v Sheff Utd Saturday. Likely to lively on and off the pitch ?

I'd find the lure of Vicarage rd hard to resist though, that should be a lively game too, Silva has them at it right now, and we are Watford's cup final.

Millwall is the likeliest alternative, I've also just seen that Brentford v Fulham is on too which I'd somehow missed so the options are there. But I think I probably will try Watford and hope for the best.

Yeah I saw Brentford Fulham but figured you might be Brentford'd out after tonight. If it was at Fulham might be more appealing, as it's a much nicer venue, used to go there a lot when I was younger. Done nearly all the London grounds except Leyton O I think.

I did Fulham a few years ago, a freezing cold FA Cup game against us, 4th or 5th round. Liked the ground but felt like I was going to freeze to death.

Wear your Norwegian clothes to Watford then because the last time I was there it was maybe the coldest I've ever been at a game of football. The wind just screamed in to where we were sitting.

Whoa, Villa up to 2nd. Hadn't noticed their run up the table - won 5 in a row incl. derby v. Brum today. They look in the box seat to go up behind Wolves now.
