But is it actually written into UK law or just in the conditions of sale by the issuing club or association , it was only recently that Spurs sanctioned the selling of match tickets at inflated prices on Stubhub.

UK law - primarily Section 166 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. The offence is for an unauthorised person to re-sell their football ticket - StubHub were authorised by the club at the time so that's okay, but a common tout or people listing on StubHub now is not.

So if that is the case and reselling is illegal - is Stubhub not committing an offence and is it not illegal in itself? I am pretty sure if I knowingly sold something that is illegal id also commit an offence - I know my example isnt 100% aligned but thinking of the principle here...

Pretty disgraceful that nothing is done , so Stubhub can advertise tickets at vastly inflated prices and nothing happens, think I will try advertising cigarettes on which the duty hasn't been paid and see if the authorities ignore that.

Looks like the way forward is to do away with paper tickets and use something like Dice ticketing,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DICE_(ticketing_company)
Of course that would mean having a state of the art stadium with high technology can't think of anywhere better than Tottenham Hotspur Stadium AKA The Lane to become the permanent host of all future Champions League finals.

Unfortunately they'll have a pretty good defence. I'm willing to bet that if you try to list your tickets and read the small print, it will say that you must have legal permission to do so. Notably a lot of their tickets probably are legal - the 50% of the tickets not going to the clubs will often be given to people outside the UK where that law obviously doesn't apply, and even those within the UK may actually have permission to resell. StubHub would simply claim that any other sellers had not complied with the terms and conditions, that they were banned from the platform once StubHub was alerted to it, and that they never endorse illegal re-sells. Holding them to account for not having adequate procedures in place to make sure those terms are complied with and the law kept to is a big grey area, and a pandora's box politicians and the CPS probably don't want to open. Imagine, for instance, YouTube being held to account for hosting extremeist video content - or SpursCommunity held to account for people selling tickets on here*. Not just a legal nightmare but a logistical one because many perfectly law-abiding and legitimate sites have no real way to prevent that stuff from happening.

*Important to note too that ANY re-sell of football tickets is illegal, regardless of the price. If you post on here that you have a spare if anybody wants it and subsequently give it to somebody without using the club's authorised Ticket Exchange/Share platforms, you're breaking the law. Obviously common sense prevails and you'll never actually be charged for that, but if you make the sites responsible and they're seen to be doing nothing about that common occurance then that creates issues.

My guessing is that they are trying to book take off and landing slots for the additional flights.

The whole Thomas cook flights seem really badly organised to me. Should never have let fans book tickets without confirming that they have an actual seat available to them.

I.e Thomas cook should have sorted out how many planes they could realistically fly to madrid before the ticket process started then it should have been one of the options when you booked a ticket you could have booked your flight as well at same time. So then every one whole know when the flights were sold out.

It’s why I didn’t use TC. Hopefully they put the flights on but the 737s are already booked by package holiday companies because of the issues surrounding Boeing, so they’ve got to find extra planes for the demand.

I’ve posted before about my experience with them and potentially going to Madrid last season for the CL. They wanted all my money but couldn’t guarantee the planes would go without certainty of demand. That didn’t sit right with me so I didn’t bother going.

Hopefully they sort it out. They are running similar deals for the 3 other English teams involved in the finals so it’s not just our fans who will be worrying.

Trouble makers aren’t going to be season ticket holders at spurs though are they?
They’ll be hidden within the people going there without tickets. It’s probably so they know who is going into the stadium. It just seems Liverpool and actually uefa are less bothered. I read the Chelsea/uefa ticketing details and it’s chelsea rather than uefa who want to know 100% who is using the tickets.

I just don’t trust uefa with the info. They’ll be flogging it to somebody.

the only other thing I can think of is if a season ticket holders ticket falls in the hands of a known thug, they will know where to go back too

It's really time the government made the re-sale of sports & concert tickets etc. at vastly inflated prices over their stated value illegal, there must be some legislation available that would work.
Airline tickets are slightly different as when the schedules are first announced Easyjet , Ryanair & others offer tickets at rock bottom prices which then increase as the plane fills. e.g At the moment I can book Easyjet Gatwick to Madrid next March for £65 return for Saturday out & return Sunday , if only we could see into the future we probably could have booked at that price last August.

you would of paid more whatever, flights during school holidays always treble, unfortunately they have trebled again

Had a quick look and it seems law does exist, about time complaints went in to MP's and police that nothing is done about it.

In the United Kingdom resale of football tickets is illegal under section 166 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 unless the resale is authorized by the organizer of the match.

the thing is most of those tickets if not nearly all won't be our own fans. there is well over 30k for the use of UEFA, and their sponsors/family. there will be a good 50% of those that aren't even interested in football, but are part of the companies being supplied them as gifts. these companies will be split across the world and people will have something they know some desperate people will buy, and they don't.

I've a friend that got a ticket, but will have to travel on his jacks, unfortunately he isn't the richest of people and has been offered ??. when your not to rich and your in a trade that is dying on it's feet, and can't afford to take your family because of the prices then you are going to be tempted with that kind of offer.

I've emailed TC twice, been on the phone for over 50 minutes with no reply, and there are no on-line agents who can answer you - pile of utter shit of a company

This is becoming a very stressful experience. I am phase 3 and seem to be checking my phone every 10 minutes to see if I have a seat with TC. Would have thought the least they could do was drop us a line and give us an eta of a decision so that we can look at alternatives.
Tend to agree that they are looking at extra flights and slots which hopefully should not be too difficult in the low season and outside weekly commuter slots.
Just hope it does not involve us being strapped to a pallet in the back of an Antonov transporter!

Thomas Cook update - there isn't one! Over 50 hours elapsed since successfully obtaining a CL final ticket in phase 3 and still my status shows as pending. Emailed twice - no response. On-line 'chat' - no agents available. Listened to 'Get Ready' on speaker loop for 55 minuted before ringing off. Very stressful experience for what was meant to be a joyous occasion - really taken the edge of it!!

I am not quite understanding the need for a form?

If fans are travelling without a ticket but may obtain a ticket there , then is that a problem because this uefa form hasn't been filled out?

Even from cyprus where i live, Cheapest flight prices are 600 euro , and that is a trek with various stops...makes me want to boycott flying for ever, ofc that will never happen and they know it, thats why they get away with it.

The brother of my work colleague is in Cyprus on holiday (they’re Cypriot) and is flying to Madrid to watch the final then flying back to Cyprus to finish the holiday.

Ye they’re all Walthamstow.

We’re driving and sleeping in the car. Getting the ferry on Thursday night and staying in France the Friday night. Me my dad and brother. Dads mates will be in the ground.

I debated just going Tottenham but I’m treating this as a once in a lifetime thing and to be out there if we win it will be special. Just got to work out where to watch it now.

On their website they are now saying that all applicants in phase 1 & 2 (unless split applications) should now have been told of their application status - all other applicants (including yours truly) will find out no later than Monday; not holding my breath!
