We definitely need to play 5 at the back against City. Their main tactic is to play their front 3 really wide to spread our back four and then de bruyne, da Silva or D da Silva cut inside. Or they suddenly switch play and their wide player is one on one against one defender. If we play 5 at the back and our FBs stay in our own half, we can stem the play in midfield and keep them out. Then it's all about the counter attack!!

Lloris
Trippier Sanchez Toby Verts Rose
Dier Wanyama
Alli
Lucas Son

Bench: Gazza Foyth Davies Skipp Lamela Eriksen Llorente

If you play 5 at the back and the full backs stay back where dies the width come from when you go forward?

Would definitely bring in Davies for Rose, to freshen up the team.

If Dier and Lamela are fit then they should be in the side too.

Christ this is hard.
Have we even got enough fit players for a full bench lol?
Have to go 5 at the back, through necessity more than anything imo.
If Diers fit he can come on later and give Eriksen or Alli a rest. Son is a machine and doesn't need one. If you're in the form he is you want to play every match anyway. Ours boys wont be feeling tired after Tuesday, they'll be flying.
Confidence plays a massive part.
Be an interesting game to see IF City are broken and if we give a shit.

I just don't wanna see another 90mins of Sterling v Trippier. KWP has to play, he couldn't do any worse. Would love a point, they will be out for revenge of course but we can't lie down and need to still try and get in the top 4. The thought of the Europa League next season especially after last night scares the hell out of me. Just not the same.
The shape we played in the first part of the match had a lot to do with that. They immediately overloaded the right side, straight from the kick off and we didn't respond. If you watch it again you will see trippier was up against sterling, Mende, Silva and aguero at times. Sissoko was tucked in alongside wanyama. The forward on that side was bypassed because they were shuffling across to press and city would either use the long switch ball or get the ball forward quickly. In the first game trippier was a lot better against sterling because he only him to worry about and could position himself appropriately.

All of that being said, I'm not a huge fan of Trippier either i just think that the shape is a huge factor. Aurier or KWP would have struggled just as much.

They obviously targeted Trippier early. Every team team does. And 99% of the time, it is a successful tactic that bears alot of chances. It gets better when Sissoko starts playing RB as well as CM. Teams dont have as much joy then.

Don't think we have enough players to rest Toby, Jan, Wanyama, Alli, Eriksen, Lucas and Sonny, which is a shame.

Chirpy is a good call.
Coach driver, Poch?
We also have enough bloody support staff like, the man who cleans the iPad screen, to give them a kick about.
