Will be very interesting to see how some of these players react to the fact that Nuno has very obviously decided who his starting 11 are for league games. Will some of the bigger egos start to have a sulk and mope around the pitch or will they go out there busting a gut to prove Nuno wrong.

Considering the schedule I think this had to be done and it’s quite brave. If we do lose it’s not a disaster with Rennes and Vitesse home to come. To give the first Xi a week off is a big plus. Although I’d say players like Lucas Ndombele with no internationals should be on the bench and are both game changers we might need.
Still I quite like the first Xi is so clearly defined and at the moment nobody could really argue. So it’s down to this mob to show us what they can. 4231 or 433 will be interesting to see. And great to see so many academy involved.

Its not really a gamble, its good call. Our priority is the PL and to be as competitive, fit and push all efforts above other comps for the PL.... Prioritising the PL above the Vanarama Johnstones Paints Intertoto inaugural is exactly what we should be doing.
It's not a gamble to you, it is to me. Because I would rather us win the ECL than finish 4th in the Prem.
Your priorities, and I agree almost certainly the owners priorties are not my priorities. Naturally, I can't speak for other fans, maybe 90 per cent would agree with you and the owners maybe 10 per cent would agree with me.

I am with you but I think it's a seriously thought out gamble. We'll go all out in the last 3 if we have to and are prepared to come second.

you wanna win a cup that means bugger all and is a joke of a competition, where the prize is Europa league, rather than finish 4t and be in the Champions league? WOW!!! just WOW!!

If Markanday is not given some minutes at least tommorow, writing is on the walls for him and will be a huge shame he is not given the opportunity to try and prove himself.

When Harry Kane was Markanday’s current age he was at Leicester City.

Edit: Sitting on the bench next to Jamie Vardy.

Have the most terrible feeling with the weakened team expected tonight we will lose. Then even with the rested players on against The spammers and United will lose and then what was point of resting them all? Hope i'm wrong but being a spurs fan has drilled the negativity into me .

It's not about resting them, that's a bonus but its not the main thing. It's about playing time and development for these players.
The European equivalent of the freight rover trophy seems a good place to do that.

I'd imagine motivation will be a big issue tonight with every man and his dog knowing this is a full blown B team

Would be good if the slammers play a drong side tonight but think they are top of their group so imagine they won't

I am really struggling to see who we can play in CM either as a 2 man CM or 3 that doesn't make me feel we will be overran. One area we really need better squad depth in!

The first page of the last accounts under revenue show why top 4 finish over winning a very minor cup has to take priority, look at CL prize money as opposed to FA Cup, the revenues are affected by covid but the PL/CL are the money earners.
If fans want top players earning top money at the club it is not going to be accomplished by winning this cup it can only be done by by doing well in PL & getting back into CL.
The players available for this game contain enough with international experience to compete, hopefully!!

Inclined to agree with this but hopefully the message is clear to all of these players that they need to put on a display so that they can force their way into the starting 11.

I have no doubt that the likes of Gil, Tanganga, Rodon, Bergwijn, Scarlett and even Winks will do their very best. My concern is with players like Dele, Sanchez, possibly even Lo Celso, who have been starters and now find themselves playing these kinds of games. They may think they're up for it and have good intentions but deep down the motivation could be lacking and that will show on the pitch, if that's the case.

Personally I'm desperate to see Markanday get some time on the pitch. I've been high on this kid for a while after seeing him play plenty of times for the youth teams. He's really talented and deserves his chance. Been tearing it up for the u18's & u23's for a while now.

I think most know who will be starting tonight, only questions being ‘will he stick to 4-2-3-1, or for 4-3-3?’ And ‘who will play where out of Dele and Gio?’

Personally I think 4-2-3-1 to keep continuity throughout the squad. I’d also trust Gio in the 2 rather than Dele, next to Winks.

Tricky decision for Nuno. I don't think they'll be a pushover, in fact far from it. However, West Ham have to play too and I think having a fully fresh first XI against them is very tempting. We do have some quality players in tonight's expected XI and I just hope we can get it together and play well enough, but that's quite an ask for a team that hasn't really ever played together just like v Mura. Not sure what Arnheim's priorities will be either. Hope Markandy gets on.
