I'd like us to persevere with 3 at the back, but the issue of Dier's poor form is rather troubling.

Wimmer instead?

And not sure about Davies at left wing back.

Wouldn't have been worried by this game now but can't see anything other than a hangover after a tough 60 mins with 10 men on a big pitch, coupled with the draining mental effects of going out and being told we're mentally weak, legends etc.

I'd like to think there would be a big response but wouldn't bet on it. Hope I'm wrong but can see a draw. I wouldn't know where to start with picking the defence. I think we play better with the 3 at the back but personel may necessitate otherwise

Walker Tobes Wimmer Verts
Wanyama Winks Dele
Eriksen Kane Son

Subs: Vorm, Trippier, Dembele, Edwards, Janssen, Sissoko, Dier

We can play 3 at the back, Walker can push up if needed and Son can track back to help Verts. The problem we will have is the squad being tired playing 10 men v Gent.

I'd be interested to see how Walker does as a third centre back. He would certainly add pace to the back 3 and is usually pretty sound defensively. Only question mark would be his positioning but I think he would cope fine. We could then use Trippier and KWP as wing backs which suits both of their games.

Would be incredibly risky to select Vertonghen for a 3rd game in quick succession after his injury. But don't see we have an option as we only really have 2 viable centre backs at the moment.

I just want Winks to start as many games as possible.. This kid is too intelligent in his game not to tap on for our slow midfield play..

He's either fit or he isn't. He's fully fit now and needs time on the pitch.

433. Dele benched due to last night's idiocy. Kid needs to be taught some things are not acceptable. Sissoko and Vinny in as they need game time if they're ever going to prove themselves. Davies Dier Dele Vorm Winks GKN bench.

For whatever reason Dier is having a mare of a season, I think he needs a complete rest.
I still believe the three at the back system with wing back suits us best.
Wanyama could drop back into the back three and that would allow Winks to play in midfield giving us no less solidity and more creativity.

This balance while Rose is out is an issue. Although I do like Davies passing range it's mobility. Wouldn't mind seeing Davies as a holding midfielder as his forward passing is really quite inventive.

However..

......................Lloris...................

......Toby..........Jan.........Davies...

Sissoko......Winks....Dembele..GKN

....................Eriksen....................

..................Kane.....Son................

Alli dropped totally for his bullshit, Dier to the bench.

Rather than Walker, Wanyama was a beast at CB when he covered there a few weeks back. Would prefer him to swap places with Dier. He might eventually be able o play CB, but his natural position is CDM, we play so much better when he is in the middle than at the back.

agree with vertonghen at lb. he spent most of last night overlapping our supposed lwb and unlike trippier/walker/nkoudou/son(who others have put at lb/lwb) he's actually played there a lot previously and still does for belgium. i think if jan puts his mind to it he's a fantastic lb, my only worry is that in the past he's not had the motivation to play there but hopefully he puts his own feelings aside for the good of the team.

So that formation wouldn't work then. 4 at the back would mean no Dier and Davies left back
