I don't think people really understand all of what Eriksen does for us.Eriksen had one poor game against West Brom and he should be dropped? Really?

I don't think Newcastle are going to sit deep at all, that's not how they've been playing under Mclaren this year. He's trying to implement an in your face pressing style (similar to us & Liverpool) but he's just not doing that great a job and doesn't quite have the players for it.Lloris
Walker Toby Jan Rose
Dier Dembele
Lamela Son Eriksen
Kane
Newcastle will sit deep, so would go for a front three behind Kane that are particularly good at close quarters. Yes, this means dropping Alli .. but I'd use him at Southampton when we might not have so much of the ball. With the squad so large at the moment, I think we need to be very careful with someone of his age who has only just started in the premier league ..
I'd also have a very attacking bench .. with at least three of Chadli, Njie, Alli and Onoma .. We have to ensure that if we don't break them down early, we can really change it up for the second half.
But, to be honest, at the moment, there are so many strong variations we could pick
Just to nitpick - Just about every time Alli and Dembele have played in the same side together Alli ends up being the one playing further forward and Dembele ends up playing alongside Dier.Probably reading way too much into this but Kane's instagram from training earlier today had him Eriksen, Lamela and Son working together. Couldn't help but think that's our likely front 4, meaning Dembele's still not 100% and it's Dier and Alli in the centre. Yep, I got all this from one photo.
Either way, we should have enough to beat them well and leave Dembele on the bench if needs. Newcastle have some great individuals, but they seem incapable of playing as a team. Even in their good performance last week, they still struggled to string passes together.
I agree, but I think Davies is making himself a case to supplant Rose at any given moment. Poch could easily start either and I wouldn't complain.Wonder if Dier is fully fit after getting clattered?
Reading the last couple of pages it seems we have a nice problem in midfield.
Back 4 are obvious as is Kane up front
think he'll go with Dembele/Dier (If both are fit)
Lamela/Alli/ Eriksen (Son played 90, think he'll be saved as a sub)
I don't think this'll happen, but it's an intriguing option in that we can make this many changes over our last league game and still look cohesive and dangerous.Lloris

Dembele has been ill during the week so I don't want to rush him back, Kane, Verts and Alli are all given some extra rest, I also wanted to see how we do without Kane in a prem game, he'll come off the bench if things get desperate. Wimmer makes his premiership debut at the lane.
Oh I know it won't happen, I'm just saying that would be the team I would put out against Newcastle.I don't think this'll happen, but it's an intriguing option in that we can make this many changes over our last league game and still look cohesive and dangerous.

Hard decision between Dembele and Son. But I think Son is more suited to play Newcastle and given Dembele was sick this week and could not train as much I wouldn't rush him back. Carroll on the bench ahead of Bentaleb, due to his good performance on Thursday and a coin toss between Chadders and Onomah, but Nacer has more experience and Joshs time will come.
