Ultimately we need to find a No 10, who has the pace to move out wide if the situation requires it - like Hazard or Coutinho. The problem with all our creative players, bar Son, is that they are all a bit one paced.

I actually think it's the problem with the right sided player that was solved with 3-4-3. Eriksen always plays well coming off the left, Son plays better there, even Alli at a pinch, but with Lamela out, and Sissoko looking garbage there, that right sided AM has been a problem position.

Edwards.

We should be buying these players before they get to clubs like monaco or even clubs like southampton. No use in passing on a player then having to pay in excess £30mil once he's had a decent season with the likes of them. This is where our scouting system should be better, like we did with getting your Berbatovs and Modrics in earlier before they reach a decent/rich club where they can command a big fee.

You mean like Walker, Dier, Rose, Alli, Eriksen etc ? (and Bale, Carrick, Modric before them)

For every one of them though, there's 5 or 6 Nkoudou's or Njie's.

You have any idea how many players Monaco churn to find the Mbappe's and Martial's. They cast a net, they hoover up lots of promising young players from around the French league and other academies, and also have their own decent academy, and then - and here's the key bit - they play the best ones, with the others being loaned out or eventually moved on. It's a model that only works if you are prepared - and have the circumstances, which Ligue 1 provides due to the economics and poverty of 90% of the league - to play these very promising young kids.

We have players like that here, Onomah, Edwards, KWP for example, they would have been in Monaco or Lyon's (and definitely every other club below 4th) first team a year ago, have about 50 appearances by now (Onomah and KWP anyway) and every UK club would be "scouting" them and fans saying "we should be buying these players before they have 50 appearances for Monaco".

And that's the catch 22, because the only way anyone sees talented young/teenage players regularly playing first team football is in places like France, Germany or Belgium, and guess what, once everyone's seen them, they are worth a fortune, even the ho hum one's like Nkoudou and Njie cost 10-12m, and even then there is no guarantee, as we see with players like Nkoudou and Njie, that they will actually be the next Martial or Mbappe. They may just be the next fucking Nkoudou or Njie.

Maybe we just need to trust edwards. Look at monaco with their countless young talents competing at CL level, i think edwards can play well if given the opportunity, the question is whether that opportunity will be given.

The irony of this is that if you look at the type of players Monaco buy and where they buy from then you'd have to say both Njie and GKN would be potential Monaco acquisitions.

to be fair njie suffered a bad injury and gkn missed the whole pre-season training, these factors hindered their development

I wasn't being negative about either player, I actually like them both but they need to be given a chance and for whatever reason that hasn't happened.

I rated this post Like because I did like it. However, if I could also have rated it with a So Surprised That Had I Been Drinking Coffee I Would Have Done A Comedy Spit Take rating after seeing you include Walker in the first group rather than the second group, then that's the rating button I would have clicked.

Putting aside my opinion of Walker, he still fits the category of player we picked up as an 18yo and has gone on to have a long career with us. A career often embellished with comedic ability to stick his fast foot up his own arse and the wah wah waaaah soundtrack of a Laural and Hardy movie, but a long one none the less.

As an example of his comedic gift, here's a quote from a philosophical Walker only this week:

'People used to say I relied on my pace to get out of sticky situations but it's like saying, "what if Cristiano Ronaldo didn't have fast feet?"' said Walker...

Indeed Kyle, indeed.....

Anyone said Dybala yet? Great little tricky player.

Out of our league but still would be great at Spurs.

Looks like he's out of contract in the summer too...

Personally think we should go in for Paulo Dybala, 'the next Aguero'. Was wanted by Citeh, both Milan clubs, the lot, but went for Palermo which seems to have worked out for him. Proves he can play in a top league. Palermo look like they're going down this season, so could snap him up...

Recently linked with Fiorentina, and they've had great taste in strikers over the years...

Four years ago.

I'm still banging the Demarai Gray drum personally. He came off the bench for Leicester last night and was excellent apparently. He made the difference. Short vid below of the panel discussing him and Rio Ferdinand being particularly complimentary. Describes him as their best player this season and he's not even starting.........

Beyond that I would very much hope that the below are our main targets in the summer:

LB: Sessengnon/Shaw/Chilwell
CM: Tielemans/Naby Keita
CAM: Isco
WF: Gray/Zaha
ST: Mbappe (unlikely)/???
