Couple of cracking strikes from Tielemans. Wonder if this was the game that we were reported to be scouting last week.

I fear a couple of the big European clubs will be in for him. May be out of our reach come the summer.

@SkySportsLyall Kylian Mbappe? Please give me hope on this one...

Yes been scouted extensively. Very promising player.
Am I really reading let's get Rodriguez in for a back up, and sign Isco and Lacazette? Is this the Chelsea or Man City forum?
Total cost being conservative would be around £150m. Also if we signed Rodriguez as a CB to play with Toby and Jan, that would move Dier back into CM and completely negate the need for Dahoud. None of those signing address the massive whole at RM since Lamela has been injured, with our only option being Sissoko.I think an important thing to consider is how many players in the squad would you be happy starting any game. For me it's the following in bold:
Lloris, Vorm, Lopez
Walker, Trippier, Walker-Peters
Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Wimmer, Carter-Vickers
Rose, Davies
Wanyama, Dembele, Winks, Dier, Onomah
Eriksen, Alli, Lamela, Edwards
Sissoko, N'Koudou, Son
Kane, Janssen
I know some can play in multiple positions but that's only 13 players that I would be happy playing in any situation. It is easy to see how a pile up of fixtures and a few injuries can really affect us. It's also interesting how many formations we can and will fit into. Dier can clearly drop into the three but with Dembele's recurring injuries that can leave us light in midfield. There are (I think) 3 spaces to make up to create a 25 (if all of N'Jie, Fazio and Bentaleb do not return). We do not necessarily need to sell, though I'm sure we will.
I would, as I have earlier in the thread, suggest Ricardo Rodriguez. He has played equally at centre back and full back for Wolfsburg this year and has a number of attributes that would complement the team. He is a certainly upgrade on Davies whilst providing versatility at the back (meaning Wimmer could leave if he feels he needs first team football).
Versatility being the key in midfield, I would love to bring in is Mahmoud Dahoud. Great under pressure, great passing range, can break up play, can open up defences. Might need to bulk up slightly.
There has been talk of another creative player taking the pressure of Eriksen but I really feel that Lamela's return coupled with the new formations being utilised will really take the pressure off Eriksen. Alli hasn't been as bad as people think too, though is definitely growing into a more shadow striker role. If we were to look for another creative player then Isco is really the dream.
Up front we only have one challenger to Harry Kane. We do need another specialist and the only potential I would be happy with would be Alexandre Lacazette. Offers something different, can play out wide if we do need him there, clinical, wanting to leave.
Obviously we would have massive competition for any of these players. This is a wish list. It would be a very good year if we could land even one of these players.
Notable Plan Bs: Jonas Hector, Youri Tielemans, Ross Barkley, Kylian Mbappe
Here come the rainbows and grinning faces...
You are referring to my post so I will answer. Rodriguez can comfortably play centre back or full back. We play three at the back (on occasion). My suggestion was in relation to taking two players out that many on this forum have not been happy with and replacing them with one player from a club where we can realistically sign a player from. Isco I have mentioned due to the fact it has been reiterated that he is our number one target. As I said, I think Lamela will provide that creativity, though many believe we require a brand new signing. If we are to get a brand new signing then Isco fits the bill. Lacazette I have been harping on about for a few years but you know, why not? He wants to leave, is positionally flexible and would be a possible target.
Dahoud is being targeted by Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Juventus, AC Milan...is it unrealistic for us to target him too?

Ultimately we need to find a No 10, who has the pace to move out wide if the situation requires it - like Hazard or Coutinho. The problem with all our creative players, bar Son, is that they are all a bit one paced.I don't think we really use wide players other than the full backs. Maybe it's down to a lack of quality personnel. It seems worth investing in full backs with Poch as they have always been characteristically fundamental to his systems. I'd argue Lamela is most effective behind the striker rather than out wide. Fine to drift out but not exactly a chalk on your boots kind of player, Eriksen has fulfilled this on occasion, Alli drifts out on occasion too, and Son I feel was signed to be a wide-ish player. I have neglected a traditional wide player but I feel that ultimately the systems used don't cry out for one. Good to have quality options, though.
The lack of RM was definitely a driving factor behind the change to 3-5-1-1, but i think we'd really benefit from a natural left winger, someone identical to Mane, just to give us another attacking option and the ability to change system without a drop in quality.I don't think we really use wide players other than the full backs. We can't afford to have high waged players sat on our bench, especially until the new stadium is finished. This is the reason we have weaker squad depth than our 'rivals'.
I actually think it's the problem with the right sided player that was solved with 3-4-3. Eriksen always plays well coming off the left, Son plays better there, even Alli at a pinch, but with Lamela out, and Sissoko looking garbage there, that right sided AM has been a problem position. The lack of LM was definitely a driving factor behind the change to 3-5-1-1, but i think we'd really benefit from a natural left winger, someone identical to Mane, just to give us another attacking option and the ability to change system without a drop in quality.
