I agree that I don't think Conte is likely to use many of the youth academy players and they would be better suited to going on loan for development....
....but it strikes me as strange that a manager who likes to play such a physically demanding style of football where he wants the players to be drilled and drilled and follow the tactical system right down to a "T" doesn't have a better record of using youth players more as they tend to be more energetic, better recovery and perhaps more tactically pliable

No Markanday on the bench but 2 GKs, has to be a contract issue thing surely.

But they can be tactically immature at the same time.

Mind it's not really true Conte is anti youth. Players like Bastoni were not expected to play a part under Conte, yet alone become a staple starter. And he has given young players starts relatively regularly.

Hes not anti youth, just isnt someone who brings them in for the sake of 'development'

We had 1 GK on the bench for Vitesse away (only 10 subs named) and Mura home (full set of 12 subs named).

We would have had 3 keepers with us anyway (just in case) and Conte will probably want to see as much of the senior players at the moment.

I would get the first team settled before bringing in the youngsters

He wants to find his best first Xi as quickly as possible. Unfortunately it’s not really the time to be blooding kids. Also unfortunately there’s now 1 less space for obvious attacking players. Markanday isn’t really a hybrid Lo celso type that could play in midfield. Really he’s an all out attacking player.

U23 away at Brighton 7pm Ko. Interesting that Scarlett is only academy player to feature in training today. So far this season even with minimal injuries have usually been 4 or 5 involved which tbh was a bit odd.

You have to wonder. TBH I've pretty much given up on the situation
Am resigned to seeing Markanday walk
Really hope it works for him elsewhere, preferably abroad, would hate to see him successful against us.

No Scarlett so he must be with the seniors for Sunday.

Would also be good if we had an update on Devine.

Scarlett is a now a permanent senior squad member. He was in the squad photo. Although will be interesting what happens to him in January if we sign a striker.
