A great result in the end not sure it's enough to get us through but we now have a chance. I found it a strange game especially in the first half when it was hard to believe it was a quarter final of the CL when both sides were playing like a couple of mid table teams with nothing to go for. There just didn't seem a lot of desire for a game of this type. Guirdiola obviously set up his side to defend and hope for a goal on the break but we didn't seem to push hard enough. It changed in the second half and we were the better side and could have had a couple of goals. The only time they really threatened Lloris was after we scored and then you could see what we are likely to get in the return next week. In the end a great night except for Kane's injury.

Same thing is said of literally every other CL tie between top teams, teams are nearly always cagey in the first leg as they don't want to risk losing an advantage.

He ran up to delph who had the ball and almost looked like he tried to get the ball off him and then just stood there. Stewards then came on and removed him. To help waste time maybe?

My assumption at the time was that he confronted Delph because he felt he was to blame for Kane's injury.

Just re-watching the Son goal - still amazing - keeping it in play, and then getting the shot off, and watching get under Ederson and into the back of the net. Just outstanding.

I'm still buzzing. My first game in the new stadium. Blown away by how good it is. Obviously delighted with the result, and my first scorer couldn't be much better either. Yeah, still buzzing.

Just rewatched full 90 back and honestly City definitely did not come to attack. Guess they thought they could cruise it and with their quality nick a goal or two.

Having rewatched it I think Ederson's injury is what caused him to not get down quick enough to the shot, and maybe the pace on it as well. Couldn't see it at the time from other end of the stadium, but he was struggling somewhat.

thats usually only a yellow if done intentionally. if this was done intentionally its a red.

and if it was intentional in the box than its a red.

That's not true. It's a red if it stops a goal or goal scoring opportunity. Intention has nothing to do with it. Once the ref determines it was a PK for a handling offense, it must be a yellow since it stopped a shot on goal.

Yeah, I know. It's ridiculous. I got into a debate with a City fan cause I posted that article from last year that took an insight into the royal family and their human rights violations. His only response was "if it's even actually true". He knows deep down it is but he's trying to brush it off cause he can't face the fact his club are being bankrolled by blood money and each and every trophy they rack up is because of that said money.

I'm so glad Abramovich didn't buy us, I'm so glad we haven't had a Oil rich state take us - we're doing things the absolute natural and correct way to get where we need to be and the stadium is a monumental success.
completely agree, something a lot more rewarding and makes victory better doing it naturally, must be weird to simple buy trophies, must not nearly feel as satisfying

"Manchester City’s 1-0 defeat at Tottenham on Tuesday was the 10th straight away game in the Champions League quarter- or semi-final that Guardiola has failed to win."

Im guessing the pressure got to him. He did try to nick a 1-0 but not getting that away goal could have backfired. Im surprised he left it so late to bring on kdb and sane. Mahrez was poor.

Not sure if pep has a problem with sane as he didnt even play against brighton.
