I've just found the VAR's LinkedIn profile

I am a reliable, focused and driven individual. I set myself high personal and professional standards and expect the same from those I work with. I am exceptionally conscientious and methodical but I have learnt to adapt my approach when faced with the unexpected, finding ‘out of the box’ solutions when appropriate. I work well as part of a team and have excellent communication skills that I have used effectively to engage, support and motivate others.

I'm glad he found an 'out of the box' solution that let to us not conceding a goal. Also the sentence in green, lol

There has been so much uproar about this yet what is the diference between this and the ref miscommunicating something with his assistant?

Which happened before VAR was introduced.

People just want to keep saying "VAR is a joke" but they even said it was human error.

The problem with VAR is the lack of consistency with applying rules and the rules themselves.

You would be getting those same issues on the field without VAR anyway.
At the end of the day humans aren’t infallible are they. Mistakes happen. I think some people thought VAR was going to be some magic bullet that stopped any mistakes from being made by officials again. It has in fact reduced mistakes massively, but It’s always the problems that are highlighted and the concept of VAR gets the blame.

Refs are humans at the end of the day, I do think we have a poor standard of referees but like Klopp himself said, nobody did this on purpose. The premier league need to get serious about the state of refereeing though, there needs to be huge investment in the grass roots of the profession, and a crack down on dissent at the top of the game which will filter down to grass roots games and make it easier for people to get into officiating. There’s plenty of money in the game but the refs are paid a pittance in comparison to the players, coaches and directors. Even the frigging pundits and presenters are paid more to waffle on about the same old cliched bullshit week after week.

Webb seems to be making some progress with the PGMOL being more transparent, so that’s a good start. It’s not going to change over night.

Absolute fucking shambles hahaha hahahahaha they will be crying for years about this one

If this was transparent for all to see you could forgive errors, well maybe not Liverpool fans.

Because that is actually a really easy mistake to make. Someone thinking a decision was made and we have all been there in professional and personal situations.

It is how we get better and ensure the same mistake isnt made.

Gary Neville's comments about it not being intentional are completely irrelevant and any pundit / ex-footballer knows that full well if they stop and think about the rules. He's suggesting it's not a red because it wasn't "violent conduct", but it clearly was "serious foul play".

Here are the two rules from the FA website, which are both sending off offences. Curtis was guilty of everything in bold.

SERIOUS FOUL PLAY
A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.
Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.

VIOLENT CONDUCT
Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.
In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.

EDIT: The same applies to the challenge on Vicario last week.

Did PiGMOL come out with a statement last week when a red card wasn't given to that goon on Vicario?
Nope, and there also won't be any comments about Jota being extremely lucky not to be booked for either of his first two fouls (both of which were worthy of a yellow imo), before he got his first yellow. The focus will be on the mistake to incorrectly book him for a foul that didn't happen, rather than on the one or two mistakes where he wasn't booked earlier. Even without the incorrect booking, he should have been on a yellow + his final warning before his second booking (which he really couldn't not be carded for, however soft the first booking was).

The only decision I have sympathy with is the offside. We got lucky, but as I said earlier it has happened way too much against us over the years so swings and roundabouts.

One dodgy offside call in maybe 60 years, i mean theres entitled and then theres liverpool. im loving the meltdown 😄 its feeding me. I really fancied us to win today I'm buzzing it's about time, and with so much added salt, lovely stuff. Gary neville needs removing for these false narratives he keeps spewing it's just wierd.

Oof, the "human error" was that VAR thought the onfield decision was that Diaz was onside so they said "check complete" to confirm he was indeed onside... what a cluster fuck.
Yeah, but what I want to know is did he get the tea round right?

Zero sympathy for any of them, especially Jota who’s always been a sly, snidey rat

They get one bad offside decision in 40 years and they can’t stop crying about it

If you know the history in this fixture you're not making too much of a couple decisions that went our way for a change

Why is Premier League not using the same offside system they use for the World Cup? That seems very quick and always bang on.

Yeah. I totally agree with this.

Refereeing needs some serious work to bring it up to speed.

I believe the game has just got so much quicker and advanced, players are so quick and pressure has intensified that refs simply havent been able to keep up.

Factor in all the constant rule changes and it is a major headache.

Which is why VAR is supposed to be an ideal solution cause it helps them catch up by reiviewing decisions.

My feeling is that once they really settle with rules things will get better but the worry is incentives to be a ref.

I once witnessed a ref get punched after being booked and over the years my local league died because they couldnt get refs, games were getting called off and then players lost interest due to the farce of it all.

There has to be greater protection, greater incentive, better pay and more help. That way you can start to incentivise refs to stay sharper/fitter so that they have more chance of getting decisions right.

The league also needs to really clamp down on managers and players getting at them.

Klopp and Arteta are defended as people say they are determined to win.

Well Ange makes a mockery of that as he behaves ever so calmly só there's no reason they cant.

Harassing these refs isnt going do make them ref better, itll make it worse.

They step on the pitch knowing they will get flak but then abuse starts. Could we do a decent job under those circumstances?

I absolutely love how this game went. We didn’t play well. Dodgy offside decision, two red cards and an own goal last minute winner. The amount of salty tears is absolutely brilliant. Especially happy for Jota who should have been sent off last year and then scored a last minute winner. They always get things in their favour and this time it went our way and it couldn’t be sweeter.

I actually think we matched Scouse throughout the game and especially when they had eleven men.

Remember that Klopp team hadn't lost since April I believe?

That they are an undisciplined team has nothing to do with us.
