I thought in the first half we played some fantastic football. Best passing sequences I’ve seen from us in years.
Also our confidence in playing out from the back is ridiculous, I still wince at times but the players seem so comfortable and are getting into positions to receive the ball not shying away
Agree. I thought we were so comfortable that Liverpool had no idea how to deal with it. People said we were too relax but I feel that is better than being too edgy and keep losing the ball or hoofing the ball up everytime.

Probably depends which piece you read on F365. I’ve only read the 16 conclusions piece but that doesn’t say Liverpool were much the better side, and agrees with both sendings off.
This from that article-'Liverpool were the better side in a good game when it was 11 v 11'. My 'much' is poetic licence drawn from other comments elsewhere.

Football fans completely forget when things go for them / rationalise it as the right call. It's why no "reform VAR" can be taken seriously cos no one cares when it's not affecting you.

According to ESPN, Liverpool have massively benefited from VAR calls over the past two seasons. Hell, last year they were top by some distance. If you truly want it to be changed, you can't just bring it up when you lose.

I disagree. It was an accident. His foot makes contact with top half of the ball, the ball rolls and brings his foot into contact with Bissouma’s leg. Because of his momentum it could have seriously injured Bissouma but he wasn’t reckless, he had no intent or used excessive force. It was an accident and in football as in life they happen. It’s like if Your car sloops on ice and crashes into another car - it’s not a punishable offense just an accident. I know many of you agree but if it had been the other way around you would be making this same argument.
The reason his foot rolls over the ball is because it’s already a very high challenge. The reason his foot then forces Bissouma’s foot (which is planted in the turf) to move back several inches and rotate his whole body is because:

a) there is heavy impact; and
b) the contact with the top of the ball is so incidental that the ball absorbs none of the weight of Jones’ studs up challenge.

We’ll hear about it for days but it’s one where I’m certain all the refs will be bemused by the controversy as it’s so clear cut.

We weren’t great yesterday, some of our passing was very sloppy and the movement off the ball wasn’t great. It was an open game before the first red card that could’ve easily gone either way. However, once Liverpool went a man down they literally had a very compact two banks of four and stuck on a couple more defenders, just trying to push us outside to cross knowing that the would beat us in the air to any cross all day long. They made it very difficult.
Anyway, who cares about any controversy - we won and got three points. COYS

Also I'm still of the opinion the first red is harsh (but the ref can't not give it once he's seen it) but you can't say "two red cards are why we lost the game"; Jota got sent off because 90 seconds after getting a first yellow he kicked out at Udogie out of frustration. That's not the referee costing you the game, it's a player losing discipline.

Can't help but feel like Liverpool fans are going to remember this for the rest of eternity. In the same way that beating United always seems sweeter because of when we were cheated that Mendes goal.

He gives no quarter, asks for no forgiveness, and gives back what is dished out by the opposition.

The one Spurs player where I could see Madrid, Barca or City offer a gazillion pounds for over the next season or two transfer windows.

He is a truly World class defender.
Udogie says hi.

To be fair, our first choice back 4 all look very impressive at the moment even Porro who I really didn’t fancy as a defender. Problem is the lack of any cover at CB.

Do you remember when Skipp got booted in the head by Jota last season, with his foot ridiculously and recklessly high, yet Jota stayed on the pitch?

And when Ryan Mason, whose career as we all know was ended by a head injury said that it should have been a red, what Klopp said?

He said “worry about other things”.

Well Klopp, and all your victim acolytes who lost a game of football that turned on a lot more than one wrongly disallowed goal, including your team’s inability to stop Spurs playing within the rules:

Worry about other things.

Like why were so many of your players unable to cope with Spurs without resorting to foul and sometimes dangerous play?

For once, worry about something else instead of blaming the world for your own weaknesses.

It was a pretty even game up until the red card. Not sure how anyone can say Liverpool were on top at that moment. For me it was 50/50 and a goal could have came from either side with both playing quality, attacking football. Seems like there are quite a few pundits rewriting the history on that first half as if Liverpool were on their way to 3 points until the ref got involved, which is far from the truth.

I've been following football for just over 50 years, and I can assure you that Liverpool have benefited from poor decisions over that time a lot more than they should have. They and Manure have been the most protected teams for ages (especially at their home stadiums).

Sam Wallace in the telegraph saying that Darren England thought the goal had been given so didn’t check it but that makes no sense either.
When they played the audio on Sky for various decisions a few weeks ago, it sounded like everyone was in a panic. As if all the stick has affected them.
Methinks Darren had nipped out for some chips and missed it

Very true . One good thing about VAR offside is that it’s fair to both teams, but not this time. Shame

His foot was high to start with because he was trying to go over the ball in order to drag it back. He got it wrong and ended up with a tackle that was a potential leg breaker. He had a choice. He could have made a block tackle but chose not to. There was no intent but it's a red card all day long, just like Nketia's was last week.

I'm getting married on Saturday - and I'll be giving my speech around half time.

The father of the bride is a Liverpool fan. As is a groomsman.

Praying that I have a good update before I stand up in order to get a couple of digs in.

What a fucking beautiful day all round.

Coys!
