Indeed. As I keep saying though it's schoolboy defending with mistake after mistake. Once the confidence goes they are going to keep doing it. It's nothing new, has been happening for years.
Okay hypothetical question. If we continue these shocking displays and poor defending who is more likely to go, Conte or the defence? Would the board back Conte to turn it around or would you see them sticking with these defenders? Not as simple as the question makes out just wanted to ask

& yet Conte still persists with 5 at the back.
It’s shameful & idiotic.

Unless he gets quality defenders in Jan, this formation simply has to go.

What I don’t get is we reverted to a back 3 last season with two deep lying central midfielders to protect the defence. Whereas this season the defence keeps shooting themselves in the foot time and time again. Sanchez is an horrific player but watching the players out there now is like watching Sanchez x 3. We’ve one competent defender and that’s Romero.

I think Hojbjerg and Dier probably need to take the lion's share of the blame for the first goal. Hojbjerg comes in on the wrong side and sells himself short, Emerson reacts slowly to the man running off Dier, but Dier should have still done better.
Partly agree, but Emerson should have gotten it covered yet he was too easily drifted past. His tackle was not even like an effort to challenge, sadly.

Lenglet and Dier both left that ball over their heads, to each other.

Emerson has been even worse than usual.

Our sloppy passing under no pressure, have once again, given the opposition extra chances to attack.

Kulu adds a great threat in attack, but he’s weighed down by Emerson. Kulu and Spence would probably be very hard to defend against.

Honestly don't get the Royal hate. Perisic has been awful with ball and without. Apart from the awful shot what has Royal done wrong?

But do the fans want the team to succeed? It’s ok to moan and complain but it’s unhelpful to get on the players’ backs every time when they are trying to rescue the situation.
Those fans pay on average the highest ticket prices in the world. Decades without real success , constant excuses why the club can't compete in line with prices and recently, negative manager after negative manager.

Football sold itself to the devil years ago and made those fans little more than simple consumers rather than a community so whilst yes booing is mostly unhelpful although I do believe it got the previous clown sacked they have every right to voice their displeasure. The millionaire players will be fine.

If I could afford to go I personally wouldn't boo as I agree that it achieves little but I will defend the rights of others to do so.

Then those at the club need to fall on their sword for allowing such weak willed players to continue hanging around our club for so long.
We've had too many managerial changes in that time though. We need to stick with one and clear the squad out. Too many players bought in for different types of managers, and players that have survived at the club far longer than they deserve to be.

But this is also a symptom of keep changing managers. A new man in will always want to see the players himself to see if he can get more out of them. By the time they realise and want rid it's too late and they are gone instead.

they should just come on here, we can all tell them who's good enough.

How does this equate? I'm pointing out that we've turned in a good display and it's still not been enough for the fans to at least show some support.
It’s been a reasonable performance so far, but I wouldn’t say good. I am in here shouting myself hoarse but it’s hard to keep it up, when you see some of the muck ups that are happening. I was just saying, it’s not enough just to play well, you need to score goals and stop giving them away.

don't think lenglet is suitable for the middle for me. Likewise with dier on the right. There's a chronic lack of pace in that back 3 atm.
That being said.. going forward we look pretty good apart from you know who on the right...
Yes, moving dier means we've got two cb's out of position. Dier should stay in the middle and if lenglet is so bad he can't be trusted at rcb play Sanchez or tanganga or my aunt fannie.
Poor defending and we need an upturn in the second half.

Dier has always been this way.

Put him alongside Dembele, Romero, Vertonghen and Toby and he'll be fine because they will be the players who take control. This gives him confidence.

As the 'main man' at the back, he completely gets lost, then his head goes.

Levy has some serious thinking to do. If Conte continues to refuse to commit himself to the club I cannot see how we can give him money to spend in January. Otherwise we risk being stuck with players brought in by Conte to play his boring defensive unimaginative football. Let’s be honest, if it wasn’t for his name Conte would have been out of the door ages ago. He is a losing manager who makes ridiculous decisions and plays boring football.
Conte didn't refuse to commit himself. When are people going to stop reading the narrative through headline hacks.
He said just yesterday that he wants to stay and wants to extend but he wants to feel like it's earnt and deserved not just because it's the default.

I'd rather a manager say they want to earn an extension than one who thinks he deserves one for nothing

It probably won't help though.
We know it definitely won't help.

And is not something I've ever done (or ever would) but it's understandable.
Our fans are a discrace, the place is toxic. It hasn't even been that bad if not for Emerson and Dier.
I stopped going as I was spending most time arguing with boo boys and it became tiresome.

Every time we play it further emphasizes how totally inadequate our summer transfer window was, so many obvious and glaring holes in the squad were not addressed at all.
