Wonder what the performance would have been like, and what the score would have been if these bunch of bottle jobs didn't shit themselves every time there's a big game.

?‍♂️?

Incredible atmosphere in the stadium. Best noise we’ve made all year. Haven’t had a chance to hear what it sounded like on tv coverage yet but we were all on it from the first minute.

To be fair I actually agree that Son targeted Holding. Not from the outset, but once he’d been warned by the ref the defender had to either back off or continue and ensure an early shower. Because he’s an idiot he opted for the latter. Did Davies become more considered after his booking? Absolutely.
Agreed. The argument is really about what "targeting" means. One of the games within the game is to figure out what advantages you have against another player when you come up with them 1 v 1. You are quicker? Play closer. Slower? Give more space. He's on a yellow? Invite contact. You're quicker, smarter and he's on a yellow? Really invite contact for the inevitable foul (you) or red (him).

If Keown meant it that way, then he's right. But given Sonny's elbow incident, there was no premeditation about it. Sonny was getting frustrated which means that he knew there were more important things for him to do and Holding's professional fouls were interefering with that.

Dunno if this has been answered already but where did Emerson get the flare from? Like did he bring it himself to celebrate? Or did it get chucked on the pitch by the fans?

Haha yeah someone chucked it from the paxton. They were being let off everywhere, I can still get the smell

I am no Complaining Arteta, but did anyone have a beer in South stand after the game and get annoyed at the constant loudspeaker telling us how to leave the stadium? If just me, I will get suspended for 6 months I guess.
that is highly annoying. As is drinking after a big win upstairs in the East Stand and having some bloke trying to sing Elton John songs while everyone wants a bit of Gimme Gimme Gimme a Ginger etc. We have had a duo who are brillaint ...Oasis , Pulp mixed in with Spurs songs...now we are back to Rocket Man

Guess I better check in with some mates on WhatsApp.
Mine is all quite although hammers have piped up informing me that without Kane or son we would be average.
I then reminded them that without rice they would be below mid table as is the usual status quo, since then I await a response.

The last two seasons have been pretty rough which hasn't helped matters but that felt like a milestone moment for the new stadium tonight. It's the same hallowed ground, just with a lot more luxury and a lot more fans in there to make a difference.

Time to make it our fortress now.

I couldn't go but I actually think the first game of the season and win against Man City was that. A massive massive win against the title holders with fans back for the first time in a ground after months for the start of a season with fans back and us in the stadium for the whole of it. It finally felt like a home.

When we moved there I got pretty blasé about going to games but I have absolutely loved it this season. Nuno was terrible and we were a hard watch but we were back in there watching our team. Whatever happens in the next week and a bit it has been a good season from where we came from.

Just checked in with a Gooner colleague 'Are you ready to talk about it yet...?'

I'm his line manager, so he's unlikely to tell me to fuck off, even if he really wants to! ;)

I can't get over the absolute bitterness of these Arsenal fans/pundits. To blame the referee for your defence imploding and your attack not turning up is hilarious.

They came out with their tails up first five or ten minutes but we snuffed them out and gradually took command. By the time the first goal came we all knew it was coming and there was really only one side who would get it. Top performance by every player and thoroughly deserved that win.
We weren't bossing them because Holding got sent off either, Holding got sent off because we were bossing them.
If we had actually tried we could have had another couple of goals but we didn't need to we stepped down through the gears and just played with them, after all we have a big game on Sunday.
Yeah, totally agree with this.

First 10 minutes or so we struggled to get high up the field. But from about 15th minute we started to play more in their half and find the passed into the channels. Got inti some good wide areas too. I think its started to click once Son burst past their defence but got the ball caught in his feet a bit.

From reading a lot of comments in the rival fans thread and on youtube comments i can tell that many football fans don't understand the reason why Son got a penalty

The rule

How is a penalty awarded in football?

A penalty kick is awarded if a player commits a direct free kick offence inside their penalty area or off the field as part of play

Son was barged whilst competing for the ball and on the field generally that would have been a free kick, therefore a penalty.

The overhead pictures in the closing stages showed us super compact all over the pitch. The back line was straight as an arrow and holding their line and the midfield was similarly solid. That's a real testament to how well Conte has drilled the team in situations that have previously been a real Achille's heel for us. Probably doesn't mean much to a lot of people but I loved those pictures.
