Checked the date and it's not April 1, but this just popped on on NewsNow:

East Bengal are likely play an exhibiton match against top English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur nine days before their arch rivals Mohun Bagan take on the German club Bayern Munich at Salt Lake stadium on May 27.

And then:

Tottenham, who would be touring China in May, have expressed desire to play a match in India against the national side.

My flabber is ghasted.

Must be an April Fool's. I'm sure Ramos would throw his toys out of the pram if it were true.

Mind you, totally ignoring these commercial opportunities is something we do at our peril...

If they can't be arsed to turn up for the remaining league games, Ramos is going to have his work cut out even getting them on the plane for end of season friendlies.

I'm all for going to these places if it improves the clubs profile, but I don't like end of season tours.

As a fully paid-up member of SpursInHongKong, I'd be over the moon if they came. 'Specially as they aren't sending a football team out for the Hong Kong footy 7s this year as they did last year, even more so that with the ar5ena1 scum sending one

Can someone explain why lucrative end-of-season tours have suddenly become strange and hard to believe? Surely it is far better to go on these tours at the end of a season rather than disrupting pre-season preparations through extensive travel?

Or should Tottenham only play in N17 and to hell with Johnny Foreigner?

Yeah I don't really see the problem. Good news if anything, isn't it?

Maybe Ramos is hoping that by hiding Berba off in China the likes of Manure have a bit less chance of signing him.

I think it's more a case of: ' with all the complaining from clubs, players and managers alike about having to play too many games in a season. And, seeing as our team can't even be bother to break a sweat in the final league games... Isn't it amazing how the players are all of a sudden capable of playing these games when the money men get the cattle prods out...'

Oh, sorry, you might be right. Everyone's a racist, xenophobic ****.

Sorry, back to topic. I understand the potential for 'reaching new markets' and taking over the world - insert evil laugh here - but really?

I assume Marcos Alvarez is going to make our players truly suffer in the cause of uber-fitness in pre-season. We all know the importance Ramos places on pre-season work, so I wouldn't be surprized if Don Juande has told Levy that those weeks are sacrosanct.

In other words, no messing up of pre-season by longhaul flights around the globe. And if ENIC want to raise some cash by taking the Spurs brand to new markets, they should simply extend our mickey mouse end of the season by a week or so.

Hopefully, we won't have a mass no-show like the trip to Mauritius that led to Kanoute, Ziegler, Atouba (and AN Other?) being shown the door....

Don't recall Reto being involved. The other no-show was Mido. Apparently Mido apologised, took the fine on the chin and knuckled down, which impressed Jol. Timmy and Freddie on the other hand behaved liked tits. The whole episode was embarrassing. Because of a shortage players we actually ended up with a couple of lads from a local ex-pats team on the bench.
