I want to care about England, i really do, but in the last ten years we've been treated to a succession of squads of players who, collectively, aren't even as good a team as Scotland (who i also follow, due to thin bloodlines and all that). At least the Scots look like they're really hungry and want to play as a team, finding cohesion enough to go through the Euro qualifiers without losing once against some formidable opposition, to no avail.

England look and act like a bunch of overpaid models who have all been asked to show up and pose for a couple of hours, win or lose, it doesn't really bother them.

I've always grown up looking at the game as a tiered system of achievement, starting at youth or academy level, through the reserves to the first team, play in domestic and European games with the first team well enough and you might be lucky enough to be picked to represent your country - THAT should be the pinnacle of any players career yet, because money is now in charge, the clubs see their players as assets and need to protect that and, in turn, as them same clubs pay the huge wages week in week out, the players are pushed into doing whatever the club wants, and the FA bow to them. If they do play, they're only concern appears to be putting on enough of a show, getting enough air time, to push their wage opportunities higher.

It's disgraceful that it's come to this, but now that moneys in charge, until the international scene starts generating big bucks for these modern, greedy, cash-driven players and the domestic clubs, we'll not see a good England team. Total mess.

Spurs, without question.

I kind of shook my head and laughed when England lost to Croatia. I practically smashed up my flat when we lost to PSV. Think that tells it's own tale

Pretty much sums my feelings up about the national team.

I have long stopped caring about England as we just dont perform. On paper we have such a good team but just cant do it. I can no longer be arsed to watch most England games.

England doing well would be great for the country, and I get to see a few games, but its nothing like Spurs doing well. You see someone else in a Spurs shirt you say hello (or shout yiddo), you see someone in an england there's nothing.

I've never been to an England game at a world cup or Euros (aside from 96) so it might be different but England's game generally lack atmosphere, totally opposed to WHL.

I'm much more disappointed when Spurs loses than when England loses. And much more happy when Spurs wins than when England wins. So it has to be Spurs first!

I LOVE Spurs, I'm a fan of England.

And what about my "own" national team then...well, it doesn't make any kind of difference for me how they are doing.

Club over national team(Denmark)!

It wasn't always like this as our national team used to be among the best in Europe(the best in 92). Though during the latest 4-5 years our natinal team have failed to deliever, which has affected the country's general view on the national team. I reckon it's a bit the same as England are experiencing?

So is deffo Spurs for me, by far that is!

I remember '92, that was the year the Danes got in on a wild card because war had been declared in one of the eastern European countries who had qualified - that was a pretty cool competition - once they got through the initial games i would imagine there was quite a lot of neutrals cheering them on

I couldn't actually choose to be honest.
I'd say equally.

I love both teams, I want both to win, and I get as frsutrated with each team when they perform below par. England and Tottenham are so alike actually.

See is it tough for us Spurs fans.

Shocking to see that every single person says club first. The players must agree with that sentiment, if the fans do, surely?
Do you reckon this is why we are so crap at international level?

I instantly voted for Spurs, but then what would you prefer, Spurs winning the league or England wining the Wolrd Cup? That's a tricky one for me. Spurs winning the treble with the CL, Prem and FA cup and that's a different story. But just the league? As great as that would be i think i'd choose England winning the WC purely because the country would go nuts and everybody would be happy for a change.
Very good dilemma to think about!! I can see where some fans would probably struggle (understandably so) with this choice but for me it is not an issue. I would even be quite satisfied with Spurs winning only the Carling cup again than England winning the world cup!!.

First of all, being Aussie, Spurs come first of course, and even if I was picking Spurs v Socceroos, it would be Spurs! I'll never bring myself to sing 'you're just a fat Aussie wanker' at Lucas Niell or Schwartzer though:grin:

Shanks, you make a good point. The clubs pay the wages. What does a player get for an England cap? Maybe additional endorsements, but I bet f-all £££'s for actually playing.

Also agree with earlier comments that it'd be impossible to really passionately support a team containing Terry, Fat Fwank, the Coles, and even feaky mouth Ferdinand.

Yeah I completely agree, but I support England just as much as I support spurs.
It doesn't bother me about these other club players when playing for england, as I'm sure it doesn't effect the players that much and club rivalry gets put aside.
Same as internation rivaly - ronaldo/rooney saga - they looked awesome together since their spat at international level.

Although I couldn't choose between Spurs winning league and england winning world cup - personally, I'd love to see both in my lifetime.
