Okay we are nearly at the end of what we should all agree has been a thoroughly enjoyable season, despite the tinge of dissapointment at the end.

With that in mind, how about we kick off with a season review and compare answers to the following;

Best Player.

Most improved player.

Player who needs to pull his socks up.

Favourite Match.

Favourite Goal.

Season Highlight.

Season Lowlight.

Season Rating.

I'll kick of with mine;

Best Player. Honourable mentions to Alderweild and Dier, but it's Kane for me. He is the essence of this Tottenham team.

Most improved player. Rose is close to being the best left back in the country now.

Player who needs to pull his socks up. Strange fall from grace for Bentaleb, and injuries are a factor, but he needs to work hard to get back into the match day squad. With Dembele out I hope he grasps his chance because there is a player there.

Favourite Match. V Stoke away, top, top performance all round.

Favourite Goal. Not probably everyone's choice but Lamela v United. The move, the commentary, I've watched that goal over and over.

Season Highlight. The celebrations after beating City away. It's when I first thought we would run close to the title.

Season Lowlight. West Brom at home. I think after Leicester beating an abject Swansea the day before the team was flat and at the end I was too.

Season Rating. A- can't fault the effort, all that was lacking was the title or a trophy, but so looking forward to next season.

Best Player - Toby

Most Improved - Danny Rose

Player who needs to pull his socks up - only one I can think of is Bentaleb

Favourite Match - Spurs 3-0 United if only for that 6/7 minute spell where each goal was cheered louder than the first. Or either City wins.

Favourite Goal - Alli v Palace, Kane v Arsenal, Eriksen v City, Lamela v United

Season Highlight - City away or Stoke away due to performance, the wins and the fans celebrations with players afterwards

Season Lowlight - Newcastle at home or West Brom at home

Season Rating - depending on tomorrow and if we finish 2nd or 3rd but either a 8 or 9/10 for me for sheer enjoyment, entertainment and lack of stress for the majority if the season.

Best Player. Toby Alderweireld

Most improved player. Eric Lamela

Player who needs to pull his socks up. Chadli

Favourite Match. 4-0 vs Stoke

Favourite Goal. Delle Alli vs Palace

Season Highlight. Beating City at the Emirates

Season Lowlight. Leicester at home

Season Rating. 9/10 Would have been a 10 if we go further in the cups.

Best Player - Alderweireld. Best defender we've had in a long, long time, and the key to our success imo.

Most improved player - Lamela. Been excellent all season, Poch has really turned his career around.

Player who needs to pull his socks up - Bentaleb. Not sure what's going on but I still think he's got real promise.

Favourite Match - 2-1 win vs City. First time I really thought 'we can do this'.

Favourite Goal - Kane vs Arsenal. Nuff said.

Season Highlight - Again, 2-1 win vs City.

Season Lowlight - Loss vs West Ham, then draw against Arsenal. That's where we lost our shot at the title imo

Season Rating- 9/10. So much more than expected, just a shame our game management was often so poor.

Best Player: Dembele

Most improved player: Dembele

Player who needs to pull his socks up: Ryan Mason

Favourite Match: Stoke away. Brilliant performance! A joy to watch.

Favourite Goal: Dele Alli vs Palace

Season Highlight: City away

Season Lowlight: Losing at home to Leicester and the draw against the scums at WHL.

Season Rating: 8/10 because of the poor start and finish.

Season lowlight will change if the scums grab second place tomorrow.

Best Player: Alderweireld

Most improved player: Rose

Player who needs to pull his socks up: Mason

Favourite Match: 3-0 united

Favourite Goal: Kane vs Scum.

Season Highlight: Dier, Walker, Rose, Alli and Kane representing England and showing why a collective ethos is more important than the individual player.

Season Lowlight: The Chelsea game left a sour taste in the mouth.

Season Rating: 8.5/10. Beat Dortmund and its a 9, win the league and it's 11.

Best Player: Alderweireld

Most improved player: Lamela

Player who needs to pull his socks up: Mason

Favourite Match: 3-0 United

Favourite Goal: Alli v Palace

Season Highlight: The "new" Spurs mentality on full display at Chelsea. So much for soft underbellies.

Season Lowlight: Only drawing vs Arsenal when up a goal and man. At that point I knew we weren't ready to win the title.

Season Rating: 7.5/10 - It was nice, but ultimately no trophies and no "real" title challenge when it came down to it. Top 4 and no cups would have warranted a 7.5/10 at the start. Playing the way we did maybe bumps it up, but when you factor in how bad the perennial top sides were this season, it's a 7.5/10 for me.

Best player: Toby, a consistent rock in the heart of our defence

Most Improved player: honourable mention to Dembele, but for me it has to be Dier, who has been a revelation in the DCM role and who embodies the never say die spirit now at the club

Player who needs to pull his socks up: Chadli, been disappointed with him this season.

Favourite match: Beating Man City 4-1 at home

Favourite goal: Dele Alli vs Palace, I never tire of seeing this goal, such fantastic technique and composure from such a young player.

Season highlight: City away

Season lowlight: the team not showing up away against West Ham, probably our poorest display all season.

Season rating: 8/10 fantastic season in which we have played some sublime football, dug in when needed and for the first time I can remember, shown the attributes needed to become future champions.

Best Player:
Alderweireld.

We were able to get so much more accomplished on the other side of the pitch when we knew we were always comfortable at the back. Not to mention we added a whole different dimension to the attack with him as well whether it was his amazing long passes or sticking a set-piece header into the back of the net.

Most improved player:
Dembele.

The transformation was stark. We look like such a better team when he's in the side and he provides a fantastic water carrying outlet for the entire team. Also the amount of defensive work he did for us has really gone unsung in my opinion. He went from a player who was rumoured to be off to Sunderland (and no one batted an eye) to someone who is up for our MVP discussion. That's quite the gulf.

Player who needs to pull his socks up:
Bentaleb.

There's a fantastic player in there, but we didn't see him enough this season. Whether because he was injured a lot and the few appearances he did make he wasn't brilliant in. I think those most critical thing he needs to do is improve his defensive game. Dier and Dembele both put in a ton of work defensively and it really makes a difference to the team as a whole and he needs to learn how to come in and match that.

Favourite Match:
3-0 vs United.

This game had a lot of dimensions. The whole "lads, it's Tottenham" history and the fact that a lot of their fans can be arrogant bandwagonning wankers were two big ones. Singing "you're fucking shit" was the cherry on the top. Usually I don't really like that song, but singing it to one of the historically best sides in the country after you thrash them is absokutely brilliant. Plus LVG's insane postgame presser was fun as well.

Favourite Goal:
Dele Alli vs Crystal Palace.

Could it be anything else? That was absolute brilliance and it wasn't during a game where we were cruising either. That goal was a late game winner. Amazing.

Season Highlight:
The entire year.

This whole season was magical. I could look forward to games again. Knowing I'd see creativity, desire, and maybe even something I'd never seen before (Alli goal). The fact that I basically waited like a kid waiting for Christmas every week for the next game was a lot of fun.

Season Lowlight:
The WBA game.

I never thought we'd win the league and indeed even if this game had gone differently we still wouldn't have, but it killed the fun a lot sooner than I'd hoped / expected.

Season Rating:
9/10

No trophy, but the football on display was excellent and we saw so much growth and development in the entire squad it's almost a little difficult to fully wrap your head around.

Best Player: Dembele. Occasionally understated with the flair around him, but oozes quality and is so, so crucial to us. You don't always notice him in games, but you very often do and we are most certainly an inferior team when he isn't there (and not, as is the case with Kane/Dier, due to the backup being totally inadequate).

Most improved player: Lamela. Always had it in him but has really produced and his work rate has been superb. For one of our furthest forward players his contribution not just on the attack but tracking back, closing down and putting tackles in is incredible.

Player who needs to pull his socks up: Chadli. Doesn't have the excuses of some of either youth or being new to the club/league, but has failed to really challenge for a first-team place or expand on his game as others have.

Favourite Match: 4-1 home to City. Really kick-started our season, got Kane back amongst the goals and was an all-round superb performance.

Favourite Goal: An obvious one, but has to be Alli vs Palace. I never thought I'd see a goal like Gazza vs Scotland in person. He went and did it better!

Season Highlight: Hopefully tomorrow, if we finally break that long, long hoodoo!

Season Lowlight: Hopefully not tomorrow having thrown it away! Other than that, the Chelsea away game after going 2-0 up. Had a real chance to show our character as a team and break that particular curse but did the opposite demonstrating how far we have yet to go (not that it's a bad thing this team could get even better!), gave up the match and lost a crucial player, costing us potentially 2nd place and points next season.

Season Rating: 8.5/10 with a point tomorrow. 8 if we mess it up.

Best Player. Alderweireld

Most improved player. Lamela

Player who needs to pull his socks up. First team - Walker. Overall squad - Bentaleb

Favourite Match. Home to West Ham. Sublime football.

Favourite Goal. Alli's goal against Palace was sensational, but personally my favourite in terms of how much I celebrated would be Son's (blatantly offside) last gasp winner away to Watford.

Season Highlight. Pochettino and the players celebrating after beating City away.

Season Lowlight. Hmm. Chelsea was horrible in several ways, but slightly redeemed by us standing up to their thuggery. Arsenal 2-2 draw was depressing, but West Ham away was the low point.

Season Rating. If we finish 2nd I'd say 9/10.
