I think for the money talked of it'll be a very good buy..Kalou does score believe it or not and whats interesting too with Kalou is that he could play in a number of attacking position ie wing of behind front striker or main plus his already got experience in this leauge and city.

Defoe's gone in my books, no point playing him now

Just a thought but I'm no fan of Kalou, but he's got a lot more about him then Saha at 31 with one knee which was our last January striker

Him or an old unfit fag smoking (ex) genius (that broke my heart just a little bit)

or neither

Actually my head says neither, lets just hope someone starts scoring goals

I'd be surprised if we used him anything other than sparingly, even so.

I agree he will be an option from the bench until he leaves but still a goal threat to throw on if we need something from a game.

Going by Sherwoods presser today he seemed pretty adamant that we wouldn't be buying another striker but whether or not he's telling porkies is another matter.

I'd be astounded if we spent big money and mildly surprised if we signed anyone, because we've got to give Lamela, Chadli, Paulinho, etc. a chance to show they can deliver the goods. Someone like Kalou might just be tempting, though.

I've a feeling there may be some truth in this.

Sherwood has spoken several times about if you get players in in January they need to have premiership experience. He knows his job is short term unless he gets 4th or better. He probably doesn't have much money for his targets and I doubt he'll be interested in Baldini's longer term projects.

On this basis Kalou makes sense. He knows the premiership, can play several positions and is currently in good form. He also won't break the bank.

I've got a sneaky feeling that our incomings will be Kalou and Lescott.

He'll be third choice. Is there a better forward who is available, cheap and almost content to sit on the bench? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan, but it makes sense on quite a few levels.

That's the key here for me, I don't think this guy would kick up a stink at being 3rd choice as he's used to playing a squad role from his Chelsea days. To be fair I was never a huge fan but Wenger was regularly linked a couple of years ago and at the time he did always seem to score goals when he got game time at Chelsea. With all the rumoured player unrest due to lack of playing time at our place maybe that's the thinking now. At 28 he's in his prime and for £3m I don't think it would be a bad move.

I fail to understand any logic in signing Kalou what so ever. We have too many players that can play off the striker that are arguably better than him. Would much rather see existing squad utilised than bringing in additional, average, cover.
