We've given up if we sign this Chelsea reject (well I have anyway).
We have got signings wrong in the past but mostly there had been a plan.
This would be a pointless exercise in buying someone who can't improve the team and will block the progress of players who at least have the potential to do so. Takes us back to the days of Oyvid Leonardson (no idea how to spell that) when we weren't even trying to compete with the top teams.

Bring back Berba, no brainer. If we can all forgive Ade then why not......

Kalou is poo, now that does rhyme

This is the 'unpopular' answer to the info a few days ago I guess?

48 appearances and 20 goals for Lille isn't too shabby though.

fuck me you lot are a tough crowd lol "is this the best we can do" "ugh" "meh" "reject" "bottler" rofl

for 3 million it would be ok lets face it he had tough competition to get a start at chavski and up front there are no guarentees as our recent £26million pound spend has shown. I wouldnt see this as the worst thing that could happen.

*And from a wide attacker/winger position as well by the look of it. No brainer for that money.

We did need to replace Defoe's 'Weak' offside awareness. :)

Waste of money. We already have players in his position that we don't play, so why do we want a cheap option who will block their progress? I give up!

For £2.6m he'll be alright for a short-term Defoe replacement.

Scored a goal every other game for Lille in Ligue 1 last season, not too shabby to be honest.

Both Berba and Kalou for about 2mil less than what we sold Defoe for? That is business. If Soldado dosn't start scoring, he has two proven strikers waiting to take his place. The same with Adebayor! Even if you don't rate them, all it takes is one little injury and it could mean a revert back to one upfront or with Harry Kane trying to prove his worth. I'd love to see Cebellos, Coulibaly, Coulthirst, even J.Obika all getting a go now we have Tim but this double deal would make total sense to me and I would love to see it happen

For Lille he's actually been pretty good, at least when I watched them (2-3 times but something tells me that's more than most people here) he's stood out as quality. Good goalscoring record as well. It just strikes me as sad though. Why not give our summer signings a chance?

Now if we plan to move to 4-3-3 I actually like this move. But for 4-4-2 it saddens me.

I'm not a huge fan, but with Defoe going we probably need a reliable striker who could play with either Soldado or Adebayor. This guy is quick, strong, decent in the air, pretty skillful and works fairly hard too. He's probably not the answer to our prayers, but at 28 he may well be a smart move. I wouldn't mind Chadli in that kind of role, but this guy might be a very clever piece of business.

He'll be third choice. Is there a better forward who is available, cheap and almost content to sit on the bench? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan, but it makes sense on quite a few levels.

Given that virtually all the strikers who came into the EPL this summer have flopped completely or been pretty underwhelming (Negredo being the obvious exception), someone who's actually knocked in a few goals here might not be a bad idea, especially for that sort of money.
