I simply cannot believe there is no recent Rocha thread...

I've said it so many times on here, that in the games he has played this season, Rocha has looked our most promising defender out of all of our (defenders or jokers?) Oh well, it's been Dawsyndrome and Crapoul either way with Gardner not exactly shattering my theory with his appearances. I'd like to hope that many of you agree with this assessment, that he has looked our best. (Leaving out King and Woodgate) He has that, much talked about, "important element of experience", okay he's not the worlds best, but how many of you can honestly say you wouldn't have rather had him in the heart of defence over the other two? Looking back at our appalling defending it's hard to think that he would have been the solve of it, but you'd think his presence would have been noticed alot of the time and I think we wouldn't have conceded nearly as many.

Basically, I don't think he gets nearly enough recognition or respect that he deserves. I see him on countless forum signatures, where people have him on their fantasy SELL lists, as if we have someone better lined up to be a second choice CB. The fans respect for him is one thing, but there's also Ramos's respect for him (or lack of), what the hell is up with him? As much as I love the man, why the hell is he ignoring Rocha? Is it something personal? Why couldn't he have played him against Birmingham???? Is anyone else as confused as me? I'm quite miffed with Ramos actually. He is not perfect I agree, but can be somewhat of a rock for us if we let him. Yeh great, we have Woodgate now. Injury fears anyone? King? Fit for eternity? Who will stand in? The jokers? How assuring.

Your thoughts please.

Ramos doesn't seem to rate him, and he sees much more of him than any of us do.

Dawson at least is far better than Rocha if he is paired with either King or Woody so he can be the 'destroyer' instead of having to be the 'leader', which he quite plainly can't do.

Crapoul is an insult to a guy who is 21 and was thrown into the fire because of our injury problems. Had we had a fully fit defence he would probably have been recognised as the talented young defender he is. He just needs time, as do the likes of KPB. You can't expect youngsters like them to walk into a team in a foreign country and start playing like they're the worlds best players, and unfortunately it seems like a lot of 'fans' think just that.

What I dont like about Ramos is his man management skills towards both Rocha and Lee. If he doesn't rate them far enough, but they can do a job in their specific positions better than say Zokora at CB and Tainio at LB.

I think that people would probably agree the centre back order is:

1/2 King/Woodgate
3 Dawson
4 Kaboul
5 Rocha
6 Zokora

Rocha simply is not going to get games. He was bought as a stopgap and that was it. What he lacks in height and pace, he makes up with his attitude and determination, but unfortunately that only takes him a certain way to becoming a decent centre back. Unfortunately he will be on his way in the summer.

"Dawsyndrome" and "Crapoul"?

Its already been said that "Crapoul" is only 21, and is no means the finished article.

and "Dawsyndrome"?

Calling a spurs player who is passionatly about his club this name: great fan u are

My thoughts are in a constructive argument you can suggest selling players, theres no reason to give them offensive titles

I sort of agree it is a little confusing. Like bringing on O'Hara at left back rather than.... the left back on the bench.

Then again maybe Ramos rates other players playing out of position higher than Lee and Rocha.

I must admit I've been hoping for Rocha to be given a chance under Ramos - paticularly at LB - but also perhaps at CB

but for whatever reasons it seems he is deemed not good enough

If you think Kaboul is a finished product at 22, you're a fucking mad man. I can only see him becoming one of the best centre-backs in England, if he stays around. In a few years time when he has matured, and is used to the English game, I'm looking foward to seeing him play, and laughing in the faces of those who doubted him.

My thoughts?

Firstly, that you're a disgrace.

Secondly, both Jol and Ramos have left Rocha out this season. Draw the obvious conclusion.

I'd have Kaboul and Rocha over Dawson

The latter could do with some time out to get himself sorted again, he's been shocking for about a year.

First off, I don't like the tone in which you are speaking about our players, but trying to see through that I take the point that Rocha is under used. I think its a case of he doesnt have a future here so ramos would prefer to give experience to other players in the squad. I dont like the fact he hasnt had a chance to prove himself, but I can only trust ramos judgement. He has looked ok when i've seen him though.

As already mentioned Daws is a good defender when played with an experienced leader such as leds or woody, and the same with kaboul - they should never be played together though. This is where I thought rocha would come in handy if those two are out. Daws has been quality until this season, and kaboul will be a seriously good defender in my opinion in the future, he has all the attributes to succeed at spurs if given time.

And Gardner is on loan if you didnt realise.

i think kaboul is gonna be a great player and i hope he is soon given the chance to show what he can do in the defensive mid position.

i think rocha is a good player capable of playing anywhere along the back4. a good utility defender with half a brain who ramos would do well to keep around.

im sad that young pyo lee seems to be heading for a summer exit but happy that ohara is turning into a player who can cover that position, aswell as almost all other positions

i dont think much of hutton, slightly concerned of how he has only become a good player over the last 2 seasons.

i feel bad for chimbonda, he is definitely one of our most talented, experienced and capable defenders (maybe behind king, woodgate) but rarerly plays above 70 percent of his level..

i would rather have seen tainio jenas zokora or rocha given the right back slot for now instead of buying hutton, (ramos clearly rates chimbonda as ''languid'')
bit of a panic buy if you ask me.

How you can rate O'hara but not Hutton is beyond me?

As for Kaboul, I definitely think he has pedigree and I'm sure he will learn a lot from Woodgate and King; but at the moment, he has a lot to learn and is miles behind a player like Micha Richards or Lescott for example...

Rocha was injuried until the start of this year, i could see JR giving him a chance instead of using Chimbonda, Zokora & Huddlestone at CB if he was fit.

What I dont like about Ramos is his man management skills towards both Rocha and Lee. If he doesn't rate them far enough, but they can do a job in their specific positions better than say Zokora at CB and Tainio at LB.

Read above about Rocha

Lee ? I think he was annoyed with his performance, he was poor in his last games, also .. i think Ramos dropped him to see better fighting in set-pieces.

Ramos is still doing his job 100%

The first thing you should do is get rid of the first two words in your username. Very misleading.

Next, don't start criticizing our players by resorting to name calling. If you have a genuine problem with them then explain what it is and people will respond accorringly.

The people who train and select the team are really the best ones to judge each player. I hope that Ramos has a long term strategy in mind with his team selections, as well as with his training methods, transfer market activity and everything else that he does. In the short term he's brought us a trophy. In the longer term we all hope for a lot more. If a player isn't selected by a genuine expert then there must be a good reason.

I trust Juande's judgement.

I love Lee, but he's fallen out of favour and as much as I'd love to see Lee playing, if Juande doesn't think he should then I trust him.

We haven't got Juande in charge for no reason.
