It's the manner of the loss that makes it so incredibly frustrating. We have a glorious chance of winning the match and spoiling Pools title challenge, but of course we fuck it up, and then go and let in a shit O.G. in the other end. Never change Spurs, never fucking change you ****s.

After a poor first half we turned things around big time and delivered a really good second.

The first tactical shift was as simple as telling Rose and Trippier to push further up, and Jan and Toby drifted wider to cover. And after that had given us a foothold we put Son on, moved to a back four, scored immediately and pummeled them on the counter. Sissoko and Dele could/should have won it for us, but the mother of all sucker punchers flattened us.

Lloris, as I've said in other threads, is now out of strikes. I don't care if he's still a technically better keeper than Gazzaniga, his mistakes in top games on top of a shameful drink driving incident should see him gone, and he should not be the man who leads us out on Wednesday.

MOTM Alderweireld, despite the own goal because he was an absolute rock today. The harshest of harsh critics can say that he has to tell Trippier to leave Mane and press Robertson before the 1-0 cross, but Trippier should surely be able to figure it out on his own.

We can defend Lloris all we want saying how he makes crucial saves against the likes of Everton, Crystal Palace and co, but the matter of the fact is this...

Lloris makes countless mistakes in games against big opposition. Our record against the top 6 is woeful, and the amount of errors made by Hugo is inexcusable.

As for “World Cup Winning Captain” the guy cruised that tournament unchallenged, and made a horror mistake in the final, fortunate they were winning massively at the time!
If that mistake had cost France the World Cup, he’d have been lynched from the Kremlin that night.

We need to address the goalkeeper situation soon before it costs us more dearly than it already does.

As for my MOTM. Got to be Toby, outstanding performance and a shame to be on the end of an own goal!

I thought Liverpool were not quite at the races - we should have won that.
Sorry but no MotM award to the guy who sticks it in our net.
Gave it to Sissoko but Rose was good too.

Only Fulham have a worse current record with 5 defeats - this is not bad luck or lack of ability.
There is a problem with attitude - MP has lost his magic. If he doesn't quickly get a grip, the 3 games against man city next month will be an ordeal and a half.
If this season does go completely down the drain then MP needs to freshen up his coaching team.

Lloris - 0. Time and time again. I dont care how many saves hes made for us. These blunders are killing us.

Sissoko - 0. Time and time again. I dont care how much improved hes been for us. His inability to score is killing us.
Killing me softly with his touch, killing me softly....

Lloris 5 barely had anything to do but drop the ball for the winner, plus a few dodgy clearances

Trips 5 so easily beaten, looked off the pace and poor going forward

Toby 8 covered well, majestic despite the OG
Sanchez 6 looked nervy but made some useful tackles
Verts 7 can't really fault him

Rose 8 gave the ball away at times but tried to make things happen so +1

Sissoko 8 patrolled the midfield tidy but simple on the ball then bought his runs later in the match, shame he can't finish though

Eriksen 7 weird game linked our play well but did some retarded passes/touches
Alli 6 liked the effort by he didn't add much

Moura 8 MOTM Commentator described him as our "joker", thought it was accurate, unpredictable and some bad decisions but made things happen and got the goal, likes playing away at the big boys!
Kane 7 didn't do much for his standards

Subs n/a no impact

Away at Anfield, deserved at least a point, good to see a decent performance. Most did well, Moura looked very lively, Kane showed some great touches, Sissoko powerful and the defence mainly solid. Those 3, the 3 cbs and rose all above par.

Eriksen had a mere, trips gets caught out a fair bit, Lloris another bad error, those 3 below par.

I think what cost us were the injuries to DMs. If winks played I think we win that. Dier too possibly. Shame Wanyama looks finished. That seemed to be our weakness today, not having that sheid on the edge of the box breaking things up for a counter.

This is ridiculous. He took over the game second half. We wouldn't have been anywhere near this game if not for him.

This was another game where the starting tactics were badly exposed. I don't know whether the preparation is not good enough, whether we're not doing our homework on other teams, but something isn't right. When game after game teams are rocking up and immediately setting up to expose you in certain areas, you have to ask questions.

For the first half hour we were shredded. Particularly through midfield. Liverpool's 4-3-3 meant we immediately shelled into a back five, and in the centre of the park the trio were left covering huge amounts of ground - individually though none of them did a great job and frequently switched off - and their fullbacks had acres of space.

Even then, Liverpool aren't a team where you automatically think ceding space wide is going to cost you... But when a simple cross finds the striker unmarked six yards out as two of your centre backs stand watching, well you only have yourselves to blame.

Switching to 5-4-1 for that little spell before the break improved things, we were more solid in behind the ball particularly, and at least got a toehold in the game.

In the second half that toehold became a foothold and we had much more of the game. I don't think it was a great performance but mostly across the park we battled and were able to have some spells of pressure. Defensively we weren't always perfect but looked secure enough as we shuffled between several shapes - 4-5-1, 4-4-1-1, 4-4-2 - and several players switched positions.

We scrapped away and eventually found an equaliser. I thought we then looked pretty composed, whilst Liverpool seemed desperate, chucked on all their attacking subs, and then in the last few minutes we were able to string some really good moves together and cut them open on the counter. Obviously I don't need to tell you what happened, Sissoko in particular barbecuing the best opportunity.

And then we threw it away. Or rather, Captain fantastic did. Corner not full cleared, knocked back in, and Lloris does the rest. I thought first of all a proactive, positive keeper comes and claims it. Yes it drops towards the back of the six yard box but he has a clear run at it and it only takes a few steps to go get it. And then the parry is just rubbish and even if it doesn't hit Alderweireld he is pushing it out into prime position for a rebound, he could easily have caught it. Game over.

It needs a big response now to get out of this slump and salvage the season, but I'm not seeing many green shots of recovery.......

Lloris - Terrible distribution gives them the ball back for the first goal, double error for the second. His big game rap sheet grows yet further, and my patience with him is worn thin. Simply must do better.

Trippier - Caught out a couple of times, but mostly solid. Involved for the equaliser.

Alderweireld - Our best player. Was in the right place covering for others countless times. Very unlucky for the own goal.

Sanchez - Ok, but caught out a few times.

Vertonghen - Ditto.

Rose - Also caught out a few times. Guilty of overplaying a bit as well, but in fairness was totally isolated a lot of time and had to try and make something happen and beat numerous players.

Eriksen - A bit erratic with the ball, but I thought he put in a better shift today.

Sissoko - Worked hard. First half was caught out positionally a lot, but less of an issue second half and came into his own as it got wide open. That chance though...

Alli - Not a great game at all. First half offered fuck all defensively. Second half was a bit better but played us into trouble a few times. Just not a centre mid.

Moura - He's not the perfect player with the ball at his feet, but he more than anyone put himself about and he'll chase lost causes, compete in the air best he can, and do the dirty work and is willing to have a go and this can make something happen sometimes through desire. Was rewarded with the goal for his efforts.

Kane - In contrast, I thought his efforts were just not good enough really. About three good passes in a game and a shot at goal isn't what I call working hard. Bullied for most of the game, didn't compete in the air, didn't run channels, didn't make a nuisance of himself. It was pretty pathetic stuff, not liking how he is playing at the moment in all truth. I miss the fresh new Kane of 2014/15/16 that was ultra enthusiastic in everything he did.

Subs:
Son - Involved in a couple of counters.

Davies - n/a.

Llorente - n/a.

The one thing I will say is that 9 or the outfield players put in a shift today. Then theres Kane. VVD handled him well but tbh, he didnt even try.

One positive is that if we beat City in the QF and draw Liverpool in the Semis. I think we have a decent chance over 2 legs.

So you don’t give it to the guy who had the ball parried against him and couldn’t do a thing about it (and was imperious throughout) but you’re willing to give it to the guy who missed a clear opportunity to put us into the lead by balloning it 5 metres above the crossbar?

Your logic is weird

Another sub par performance from Trips and Eriksen.

Such a shame that the latters form has decided to disappear off the face of the earth just when we needed him most.

He gone down rapidly in. My estimations.

Could have been a Spurs great.

The draw for the semi final have already being made. If we beat City we'll be playing Ajax or Juventus.

Incredibly proud of every single outfield player, we were unplayable second half. We just have one or two passengers in the squad who have a losers' mentality that will always cost us in the big game.

Care to name them?

The World Cup winning captain tag equaling a winning mentality bugs me. International football is not anywhere near as strong as top level club football anymore , he also 18 months.cruised in that French team.

He’s broken

Well he’s fucked in some way. Hasn’t been his reliable self for 18 months
