Sorry, but I don't get that - yes he scored a goal and was full of energy, but he was no where near MOTM - he fell on his arse two or three times, he skied a couple of shots, misplaced many passes, went on dribbles to the right when there were players in acres of space on the left and a straightforward pass away.

I am not saying he was poor, but just not MOTM.

Yes I get all of that. My lasting memory was his excitement in that moment.I gave it to him based on his sheer delight at scoring that goal. His passion shone threw as the cameras panned in on him. I've seen many a goal celebration from our players but he's excitement at contributing in our forward attack was evident in that moment.

Ratings are a subjective matter at the best of times very few on here can give a coherent objective opinion on our performances.....very few. So don't take mine to heart.

Agree with all that has been said so far - Bale, Sanchez, NDombele, Reggie, Toby, etc. Along with all them, Sonny needs a mention for some great transition play and two assists to Bale. He was also unlucky not to score (although he did have one Andros to row Z...).

Bale, of course. But what excited me the most is the link up play between Bale, Son and Kane, it's frightening how good it was and can be. Get Lo Celso in the team and with the likes of Ndombele and Reguillon, I will never be bored again.

It was also a HUGE difference having our first choice full backs back. No Dier, No Sissoko, No Winks, No Davies and No mistakes.

Toby is our first choice centre back and should play every game. It's him plus 1 and today it was Davinson who I like. Good solid performances from Ndombele and PEH. And a note on Ndombele - the difference is huge, his workrate is now first class and 90 minutes isn't a problem.

But yeah apart from all that sensible stuff, I feel like a child watching Bale, he was wonderful today, If we keep getting performances like that from him and that team doesnt get injured, we will COMFORTABLY make the CL places and an outside chance at second.

I finally feel I am watching the real Spurs again after 3 years.
After the Chelsea v Manure game the Mancs are second on 50 pts. We’re 11 pts behind them with a game in hand(v Villa). Win that and it’s 8pts. Beat them at home and that’s 5pts to catch up over 11 games remaining. Add to that the fact that of our competitors for the top 4 places I think we have the easier run in.
In theory away the only tough games we have are the South London Nomads, Everton( who in the cup game we showed we can beat- we beat ourself that night plus we nearly always do well there), and Leceister on the last day who I feel are like last year beginning to fade. We have Villa both home and away who are a good team but they have not rotated many players and I feel tvey will begin to tire in the run in. That only leaves the Manu game as the only tough home game. With big game players like Bale and Dele coming in to form top 4 is very doable as long as our defense stops making stupid mistakes that cost us goals

Bale Motm.
For me it was a very tight game, and Burnley were on the front foot, and we were counter attacking yet creating the better chances. Admittedly I missed the 1st half hour!

What was interesting was Alderweireld repeatedly knocking relatively easy balls out of play, so the defence could reset.
I think the defence have rightfully been taken back to basics - if in doubt, knock it out.
It is not a lesson that Toby needed himself, but he is more modelling the behaviour for his partner.
They were both good, but the clean sheet slightly flattered - burnley created chances. We did make mistakes.

Very much enjoyed the period of keep ball in the second half. Was I alone in hoping it wasn't Dele who messed it up?

Apart from the one chance just before half time, I can't remember being too flustered, I thought defensively as a team and individually we were solid.

I thought aurier was a little erratic with his positioning and left davinson with more work than was needed, but other than that I thought they didn't really threaten.

Burnley didn't let the effort slide as well and kept us honest. But I thought the clean sheet was well deserved.

Not sure it was ever a tight game. We were in total control and always looked like we could score more.

I think Hugo made 2 pretty standard saves and that was it. Unless you think a clean sheet that doesn't flatter is the opposition having zero shots in total? Which is completely unrealistic.

For me though, it is no coincidence that he looks at his best alongside Toby. That happens almost every time one of the CB's play alongside Toby. He is a calming, experienced presence. He may be slowly declining but he is still our best cb.

THIS.

Mourinho deciding on a first choice CB-pairing is key to the rest of the season. As several posters have pointed out, it's no coincidence that Sanchez looked 10 times better alongside Toby than he does alongside Dier.

A Toby-Sanchez partnership comprises both intelligence and passing ability along with raw physical power and speed. Please continue with this partnership for the rest of the season in the league. The chopping and changing in central defense has been criminal this season.

I have often ripped into Sanchez so it is only fair that he gets props for an excellent game yesterday. Was aggressive and challenging yesterday. It would be good to see him and Toby as the partnership at the back with Rodon coming in on occassion going forward. Toby had a quieter game but I still feel so much more comfortable with him there instead of Dier.

Compared to the magic pochettino side, when it securely battened down the hatches, I thought burnley were finding space. They were just unable to capitalise. A better side would have.

Our side move so more fluidly with ndombele playing a deeper role, but we are playing an attacking midfielder in a part defensive role, and there are consequences. Hojbjerg is not wanyama either.

Credit must go to mourinho for producing such open entertaining games. This is absolutely against his nature.

I think Ndombele is very much 'an attacking midfielder' when he's playing the deeper role. A lot of the time opponents try to double up on him which creates space for others and he also tries to get the ball forward at every opportunity instead of sideways. He has the ability to open a team up with a single pass and we look far better going forward with him at 8 than we ever did when he played higher, and quite a few were saying so at the time. Hopefully the penny has dropped with Mourinho.
