Sold
Soldado - 4 - fuck me no movement, offered nothing and missed an absolute sitter which ultimately cost us defeat and a lack of an away goal

Wowo_O What game were you watching? I know he missed a sitter but the bold bit is completely false.

You not like Soldado much?[/quot

I really really want him to do well. I think he was unfortunate under avb in that he got no service at all. His overall game seemed to improve under Sherwood hes getting involved more but started missing a lot of chances. He was rightly dropped after a terrible outing in his last Prem game and im afraid he just doesnt offer what a £26m striker should

He cant hold the ball uo
He cant win anything in the air
His movement is static
His finishing is shocking

He's just stating why.

He's not agreeing with you.

Eggs.

where did I say he was agreeing with me? - I said his reasons as why I repped the post the way I did was spot on and then said he wont hear a word of criticism against Soldado

Friedel.........8...Improving under Hugo. Even keeper sweepered once.Rode his luck.
Naughton....6....Didn't do too badly against a talented opponent.
Dawson......6....Impressive in the air. Sound 75% of the time.
Verts..........6....Plays as if there's something else he'd rather be doing.
Rose...........6+..Lively and willing but lacks something.. Don't tell me...
Paulinho......7....Decent performance but they don't make Brazilians like they used to.
Bentaleb......6....Clearly doesn't travel well. Very erratic passing.
Capoue.......6....Perhaps Tim was right. Needs to concentrate. Could be good, maybe.
Chadli..........6....If he'd been subbed after 15 mins we'd all be raving about him.
Townsend....4....Embarrassed for the boy. What wasn't he thinking.
Soldado.......7....Some lovely touches. Quality player. If only he wasn't supposed to score goals.

Eriksen.........Gave us some hope when he came on.

You don't know how lucky you are if you missed that.
Sloppy performance all round.
Loss was on the cards for most of the second half.
They could have won it by more but for Brad
and their own inability to shoot and a quite a lot of luck.
They broke quickly and had us on the run at times.
We were slow thinking and moving
We had more possession but did very little with it.
Can't remember us putting more than three passes together.
Pitch was awful but they played on it too.

lol clueless truly clueless but at least your actually posting rather than just your typical approach of trolling but you should have just stuck to trolling - your hard on for a woefully poor striker is embarrassing and exactly why we get laughed at by other fans. I couldn't care less what Soldado did in Spain all I care about is what he does here and to date he has been awful.

You know what else cracks me up ?

I reckon I could count on one hand the amount of times Townsend has hit the target this season. He must have the worst shot: on target ratio in any football outside of Alaska this year. So, how do Spurs deal with this ? Well, we give him free kicks as well ! I think it's just for the laugh personally. It certainly made me laugh. If I didn't laugh, I'd cry anyway.

It's like someone at Tottenham is sat there wondering how they can piss the fans off anymore than they presently are and they've gone, 'I know, I've got it, give Townsend free kicks !!!!'.

Genius.

A Short History of Ukranian Tractors…

...And other ploughed fields.

What a god awful pitch that was. That said, the pitch wasn't entirely to blame for everything, some lightweight performances and - as ever - some heinously piss poor play in the final third were vying for the title of biggest spanner in the footballing works tonight.

The biggest culprits tonight were the two youngsters.

Bentaleb spent far too much of that game out of reach of players who desperately needed an outlet ball. Of the 11 starters he only saw more ball then 3 of them, including Friedel. Not what you expect, or what is required from our water carrying, join the dots, box to boxer. He spent far too much time in positions too far advanced of the ball, leaving no link between the defenders, Capoue and the next layer. Both him and Paulinho offered way to little defensively too. Both were invariably a long way behind the Dnipro breaks, leaving Capoue to do way too much off the ball work much of the time.

We seemed to be tactically divided into 4 defensive players and 7 offensive ones, with a huge void in between where Bentaleb and Paulinho should have been providing a conduit, some glue between the lines on and off the ball.

They rarely did and the result was an incredibly disjointed performance with the disjointedness exposing our fallibility at each end. Attacks foundered through poor movement and mostly care with the ball and defending was invariably undermanned and last ditch by the CB's and Capoue as everyone else was on a jolly up the pitch.

Townsend did his best impression of a headless chicken. Poor touch at times and on the rare occasions he got the ball under control he inevitably opted to take ridiculous shots from impossible positions. I am already tired of him doing the same thing every time he plays. There was one time when he got behind his man on the left and he just put his head down and whacked it to no-one. The difference to our play, even in that malaise, when Eriksen came on was quantum. And I have not seen a lazier player off the ball than Townsend, he is just nowhere near good enough to get away with the complete lack of work ethic defensively.

The player I felt for tonight was Soldado. I thought he worked his socks off, showing up left and right, and trying to hold up or link people in, playing a couple of incisive passes, and continually making good runs off the ball. To then miss that appeared an absolute sitter was cruel and just typical of things have been rolling for him. When his luck's in he'd probably mis-hit it and it would go in. I think it bounces up off the pitch on him, but was an awful looking miss. This was Adebayor's luck last season.

The goal was typical of what happened all night, possession lost in their third turned to an attack that we didn't make a great job of defending. Dawson decides to dive in inside their half, as is his want, for me if he isn't getting the ball he has to clear out the man and give the free kick away 5 yards in their half. Vertonghen and Rose the same, either should have made sure they got the ball or took the man out and took the card and free kick. Poor defending by all three of them IMO.

I thought Chadli was good first half, but the tactical switch - partly I reckon to help Naughton with the dangerous Konoplyanka - saw him become less effective and involved.

generally speaking the poor application on and off the ball often negated the positives of the 433 structure. Higher line with poor pressure on the ball is a well trodden path to failure that we have seen before. We had too many players bombing forward too quick on a pitch that couldn't keep up with them.

Individual Stuff

Friedel - Solid performance, came out and saved well.

Naughton - Very little help first half defensively, played a lovely little ball through to Paulinho but was otherwise pretty meh.

Dawson - A very typical Dawson performance.

Vertonghen - A mixed bag really. Should have done better for the goal.

Rose - Goal aside, I actually thought he had a reasonably decent game.

Paulinho - Defensively quite lax at times, did make the best chance of the game and does get forward well, but often doesn't take enough care with his execution in the final third. Did see more ball than Bentaleb on the night though.

Capoue - There were times when he needed an out ball where none were offered which resulted in him attempting sloppy long passes. He did see considerably more ball than anyone in our team (30 more passes than Paulinho, 41 more than Bentaleb) but was as guilty of others at times of carelessness.

Bentaleb - Positionally very poor tonight and hid from the ball way too often. His job is to be the conduit between the defence or at least midfield and attack, but frequently I saw Capoue or a full back in possession and Bentaleb was not even in the picture, he'd disappeared up the pitch. On a pitch like this that was the last thing we needed on a night like this, when controlling and passing the ball was difficult.

Chadli - Very good first half I thought, the tactical switch didn't really benefit him or us.

Soldado - Put in a very good shift. I think this system - 433 - could suit him more, but we've got to play it better and he needs to get his mojo back.

Townsend - Piss poor all round really. Poor decisions, frustratingly selfish when good positions were hard to come by and very lazy defensively.

Eriksen - On a tough night he put in a decent little cameo.

footnote

Dnipro were a decent little team, well organised, pressed well and could have scored more than the goal they got.
