Yes, your point is nonsense.

Keeping an unfit player wanting to leave because he might make a difference in one game is something no club would do except possibly West Ham.

Because our current midfield is such a paragon of health and fitness?

If he had stayed, he would have had the possibility to make a positive impact on the team. We’ll never know the extent of the impact, but we do know what happened when we sold and didn’t replace him - we went from title challengers to likely Europa League participants.

Bet yeah, that’s all fine, and keeping Dembele would have made no difference to our team whatsoever.

What about he wanted out and we knew he was not at all reliable fitness wise?
Exactly.

If perm-crops Lamela and Wanyama have struggled to stay fit with this team imagine how Dembele would have coped? Remember he was injured prior to January anyway.

Don't disagree with suggestions we should have signed someone though.

There’s no point arguing that we’d have been lucky to get in the top four at the beginning of the season, so somehow we should be satisfied where we are now and with whatever the outcome is at the end of next week. The fact is we should have wrapped the top four up against West Ham, or today at the latest and we didn’t. We had two golden tickets to enter the chocolate factory and we pissed on both them. Now we’ll face Everton minus Son, needing the win to ensure Champions League status and revenue. It’s been a clusterfuck final third of the season, and even if we edge past Ajax (which seems insanely unlikely), are we really capable of beating Barcelona/Liverpool giving our atrocious away form?

This is like being kicked in the balls by the invisible man

The problem wasn't selling Dembele, that was a long time coming and the move made sense from a financial perspective, the problem was not replacing him in the summer.

Unfortunately, as we all knew at the time, our lack of signings has, for lack of a better word, fucked us. All season we've struggled with squad depth and the worst part is that we had the exact same problems last year and failed to address it. It's no wonder we find ourselves in the same or worse position this season when we chose not to strengthen and improve on a third place showing last year. How were we possibly going to finish higher with the exact same team?

To all those people who say we don't deserve top four can I humbly ask what teams do deserve it then if not us?
I'm not saying we do not deserve. But our rivals did almost everything for us in order we can stat in top 4 forever, and suddenly we blew our chance. It is extremely frustrating.

Just reinforcing his point.

Even if we somehow hold our luck and secure CL through a league position, I doubt Levy is going to change his transfer MO.

I think there will be more activity this summer, even using the same MO allows greater scope for quality.

Days like today remind me why Spurs always let me down. The hope kills you !

You can’t get away without signing anyone without it biting you on the arse.

The players are shagged and bits of luck that we had earlier in the season are not running for us now. Financially of course you can’t compare us to Leeds (because we spend fuck all), however look at what happened to them post a Champions League semi in 2001.

In my view the board have been very lucky that the team have bailed them out over the last couple of years. There is no accountability especially with the fans who blindly pay the highest ticket prices.

I hope you’re right but it’s no point getting average players that are not going to improve the team by much.

I hope he really loosens the purse and spend on quality this time.

Levy should have strengthen the squad with quality when we qualified for CL under Redknapp.

Now that the stadium is up and running, I hope he goes out and get the quality of players that we have long awaited for.
Frankly speaking, I read several opinions about our finance including swiss ramble. We still have a huge debt with the lowest sponsorship contracts among top 6 clubs. I doubt that the stadium's revenue will positively influence our transfer budget in a short run.

Fortunately we’re not the only club under a lot pressure. Us, Chelsea, Arsenal and United could finish anywhere from 3rd to 6th.

If either United or Arsenal drop any points we finish above them. If both drop points we could lose to Everton and still qualify for the CL. Chelsea are the only team that could drop points and finish above us. 3rd place is now theirs to lose.

It’s going to be incredibly close between all four teams. Obviously circumstances could change a lot before Everton, but at least it’s still in our hands...just.

I’m fearing the worst but it’s far from over.

The club's got cash. The club's got so much cash, they don't know what to do with it. In fact, they've got enough cash that if you sold all the club's assets and paid back all the debt in one foul swoop, you'd have cash left to buy Lionel Messi. In 2018 they paid one Moussa Sissoko in taxes - taxes! And their revenue doubled since 2015. It's a shit solid club with finances that corporations dream of.

Here's my prediction for the week ahead....

1. On wednesday, we'll get a goal early and the game will go into extra time. We'll lose on penalties and our players will be absolutely shattered (both mentally and physically)

2. We'll lose our final game of the season with most players having nothing left in the tank

Arsenal fans will sing that cringeworthy uefa cup song after the final whistle at burnley.
