I honestly don't remember the last time I was this affected on an emotional and psychological level by a sporting event. I've done absolutely nothing since the end of the game other than stew in anguish. It's genuinely making me question my relationship with Spurs and whether I ought to make a conscious effort to step away and find some healthier use of my time.

I've been the same and was wondering the same thing. Was meant to study today but wasn't in the mood for that at all after the game.
Thing is though if you disconnect a bit due to the lows you don't get as good an experience from the highs when they occur also.

It's gotten to the point where my weekends are completely dictated by whether we win or not. I'm not sure if that's normal or healthy.

It’s just crazy it’s come down to scrabbling around like this. I’ve been confident even after the Southampton game put us in trouble but really can’t see where our goal will come from next week against Everton.

Still the bookies favourites. Still wouldn’t swap our position with any of the others. Arsenal away to Burnley. Chelsea away to Leicester both off back of a Thursday night. And United still 5 pts off us with worse goal difference.

...and an injury (and suspension) ravaged Tottenham who can’t buy a goal. We can talk about the fragility of our top 4 rivals but we’re just as bad.

Such as the league cup win in 2008 and the league cup win in 1997 and the fa cup win in 1991 and .......wait, thats it as far as my lifetime goes!

It goes deep, it really does. We create archetypes within our cultures and football is no different. Heroes, villains, victims, resurrections, etc. These things become important to us bordering on zealotry, and when things are good, we’re ecstatic. And when they’re not, we fall quite badly.

I’m trying to wrap a profound glow around my disappointment but it’s not happening

To be honest I just mean the season highs. I can only speak for myself here, but any win puts me on a personal high and in a general good mood. Or you get the highs that last a little longer, like a derby win or for example the 'win' at City in the CL, I love the feeling after those and wouldn't want to feel disconnected in any way that prevents me from doing so in the future. Even if I'd like to be negatively affected a lot less after a loss.

Football is just a sport, the old line of it 'not putting food on the table' is normally enough for me to sober up. This place is just good for the banter

Since Burnley..

P 11 W3 D1 L7 = 10 Points

Over 37 games - taking us to today - that would be 33 points, putting us 17th, 2 points above Cardiff.

This is relegation form.

Poch and levy have to take responsibility for that.

It's their fault - nobody elses

Wow! The worse case scenario is we could easily end up 6th after being overtaken by Chelsea Arsenal and Manu, if they win their remaining games and we lose all of ours! :( Now that is sobering
Do you still think this scenario is worth a "What the fuck" rating @hughy ?

I feel exactly the same. I genuinely question if I'm overly involved in this or if it's just normal. My friends, spurs or otherwise, don't seem to get even half as affected when their teams lose. For me it completely ruins not only the weekend, but the week. I find my sleep affected cos I'm so frustrated/angry/let down. Feels like the thing you love most just constantly letting you down. Any other aspect of my life that affected me like this would be dropped ...but I just cant let go! Somehow that hope drags you back each week !

A lot of it is down to the pressure mounting with every passing game.

The only player I'd trust to see is through is the one who is not available.

Harry Kane has the mentality to step up when it truly counts.

If he were available next Sunday I'd be a lot more confident.

Sadly he probably won't and it feels like a total lottery now.

How it's come to this I've no idea, but the last two months have not been good enough, simple as that.

I honestly can't see us beating Everton without Son & Kane, we lack any conviction going forward, a draw is the best we can hope for & then hope Chelsea lose / Arsenal draw.

There will be times next Sunday where we will be out of the top 4 'as it stands' & that is a shocking reality

Yep, absolutely. I guess some might say well that's just football, it has it's ups and downs and that's just the reality, which is true. Just wish I could find a better personal state when the lows occur and continue to be able to make the most of my time!

Football is just a sport, the old line of it 'not putting food on the table' is normally enough for me to sober up. This place is just good for the banter

Yeah very true mate, I try and tell myself a similar thing, just takes a while to kick in!

Try this, Arsenal fans were feeling like their chance had gone and were miserable but now they have a glimmer of hope that will be dashed next weekend and that will crush them. doesn't that help?
