So long as we do the job on Wednesday I don't care if City beat us on Saturday.

If we win the other 4/5 I am pretty certain we will finish 3rd. And those games are fairly kind (opposition and us being at our new home).

And I really don't want Liverpool to win thr league.
I think getting three results against City at this time of the season would be so beneficial to our mentality I could get over Liverpool winning the league. Plus if we did somehow manage to beat or draw with City and hand them the chance and they still fucked it up, we’d have an even more hilarious stick to bash them with.

So basically win 4 of 5 and mathematically we are guaranteed top 4. Even if United won all their games their goal diff is 11 behind us and obviously if we win 4 of 5 we would maintain that goal diff.

I’d put the probability of winning that final against Barca at 20%. There would therefore be an 80% chance we lost the final and therefore that we had no chance of winning the CL next season and a reduced chance of qualifying the season after because attracting good players would become harder.

I would pitch in with the conservative progress that we have shown consistently under Pochs reign.

I would reject both for our current situation. Which is that we have an outside chance of reaching CL SF and a very good chance of finishing 3rd

Can't believe there's actually people wanting us to lose to City next Saturday. Liverpool aren't even our fucking rivals. It's a completely different argument if it was Arsenal or Chelsea, but Liverpool? Liverpool's fans are annoying as fuck, but it will wind up United/Everton fans a lot more.

Not finishing in the Top 4 could set our club back years, winning at City in the league pretty much guarantees us CL football for next year.

Also knocking Kyle "I want to win trophies" Walker out of the CL and PL in a couple of days, would be justice!

Law of averages means jack shit. If we knock them out on Wednesday, they'll be there for the taking on Saturday.

I can't be the only one here that has literally never met a Man City fan, literally don't care about them or have any feeling of rivalry to think about. If we knocked them out of the CL, i'd take a defeat at the weekend no question

For us to drop out of top 4 TWO teams have to overtake us. At this stage of the season where 3 out of 5 games are at home, and 1 of the aways is Bournemouth. I could see us winning 4 from 5. Getting a draw minimum at City next weekend would be a huge bonus.

Has fuck all to do with law of averages and everything to do with them being a top class team.

Don’t under estimate West Ham in their cup final and their desire to be the first team to beat us in the new stadium. It’s the one game I’m concerned about, especially without Kane who always scored in derbies.

I so hope we give them a proper drubbing. They are, for me, the singularly most annoying fans in the world.

Liverpool winning today really squeezes City; they play us two games on the bounce. They will absolutely not want to lose to us in the league game- it may strengthen our hand against them in the second leg where they will be mindful of injuries and fatigue affecting them for the next game. They’re an exceptional side, but we’ve beaten them once, very recently, and with Liverpool beating Chelsea the pressure is back on them. I’m not underestimating them but, barring our injuries, conditions are arguably playing into our hands better than they were a couple of weeks ago

I dont think, if he did in the past, that he values it over the PL this season... he may have been bought in to win the CL but this season if he wins the PL it will be worthwhile to drop the CL.

Hell, id end up wanting us to do the same - the PL will always be the bread and butter and the one to win over anything else...

I'd bet if the owners where to talk with Pep this week they would say "all out for the CL", they want to dominate Europe, and then hope to win Saturday as well.

there is no way he will rest anyone this Wednesday, and more chance if he was to rotate it would be for Saturday. I am expecting them to hit us strong and try and win both games in the 1st 30 minutes. if we do fuck their dream over on Wednesday, it might help for Saturday.

I think it's going to be very painful for a lot of us, as I'm sure most people on here know of at least 1 Liverpool fan that will make life unbearable. if Man C don't beat us quickly in both games, I can see it taking something out of them when they play Man U (unless Man U don't want Liverpool to win the title) my onions

Don’t worry about that, we would’ve lost to Brighton by then

He wont rest them I agree but i think he will rotate. Also dont forget De Bruyne has had his rest as has Bernardo Silva, Aguero has too but not playing as well as he could. Sane has had his rest and so has one or two of their defence.

They will come out all guns blazing, a bit like Dortmund against us. We need to withstand all sorts in the first half hour in both games like you say.
