Why are people saying he's not mobile when he genuinely is, I don't care who the player is if Poch wants he's deserves to get the guy he wants. Hope this comes off, he's a beast.

Nothing from the games I have seen him in could be described as "mobile"

Maybe a juggernaut when he gets going but don't half take some winding up to get there... turning is also not a strong suit.

Didn't want him last summer but Pochettino knows what he's doing 11m makes him a zero risk signing.

He's not the most technically gifted but will that matter when he's snapping Fabregas, no it won't.

Are people kind of forgetting how ridiculously good and how much he bossed the midfield area under poch at southampton?
He dropped off last season but hes what 24? He wants to come here so he clearly loves pochs ways and feels that hes game for his methods. Hes PROVEN in the system and will rotate with dier beautifully.
I called this transfer 2/3 times during the last season and id even wager that come the end of next season he will be slightly prefered to dier by most.
Wanyama-dier-dembele....welcome madrid hehe

Agreed. Excellent signing and another big strong lad in our team.

Ha that reminds me when everyone was excited about having a Sandro/Capoue/Paulinho beefed up midfield thinking that we were impregnable :D

Poch will have him better than kadeira in 1 pre season, have faith....hes gonna beast it in the big games with dier/dembele and in cl.
Not gonna help us with bus parkers on our tiny pitch though and turn those home draws/losses into wins.
We have bigger problem areas to address IMO, good for squad yes, but not sure he improves the first XI.
Hopefully with better players around him he will step up again though...

Our problem last season was giving away leads.

If he's our only signing yes, but defensive mid is really becoming one of the most important position in a team now. Esp with our formation. one guy to sit in front of defenders, 5 guys to attack

Need to start thinking in terms of a starting XV - if we are going to compete on multiple fronts. 15 players who are capable of playing in the starting XI.

Wanyama allows us to rotate Dier and Dembele, while still playing at a high level. Last season we could not do that with Mason/Carroll/Bentaleb. With Wanyama, I think we can still play one of those other 3 in Cup games, and even some league games - assuming we are going to play our best in CL group games. But, I could see us simply rotating Dier/Dembele/Wanyama - using 2 of the 3 in league and CL games.

Yeah I know we need more bodies in CM and could see him and Dier teaming up in big euro games or tough away games, wouldn't want to see Dier, Dembele and Wanyama though, all very deliberate with the ball and slow to use it.

We need backup for Dier that's for sure, but would he be willing to be that or even on a rotation with Dier? not so sure.

Players love saying it's a squad game until they find themselves on the bench for a couple of games...

I don't think we see all 3, absent a late sub. More likely 2 of the 3 play at any given time. If we played 55 games, that leaves something like 37 games each for all three of them.

Either way, one of our downfalls last season was not being deep enough with top-4 quality players, and nobody who could adequately fill in for Dier. Wanyama helps make the squad better for the entire season.

Being a CL club and a side not too far off from challenging for the league again we are in a position to sign top quality. Is he really of that desired quality to take our team up a level or just another squad filler?

Personally speaking he's a red card waiting to happen. He's really indisciplined and picks up yellow/red cards galore leaving his team in a vulnerable position. Not a fan of his at all....

Is that why he didn't get a red card in 13/14 or 14/15?
