Part exchange? As in trying to sell Nabil for 11m or less? I can see Mason going for that or less for Bentaleb?

Think this is a good signing as it adds more weight/power to the midfield but after watching dier for England yesterday who does a great shielding job, it was noticeable his passing isnt great.
We need imo someone to unlock banked defences but still a great purchase regardless.

Very rare i get any ITK but one of my friends works with addidas and deals with alot of our lads and has been told VW is a done deal... Salt and all that though!

Totally tired clicking through some threads and was wondering about a deal with Volkswagen

Wanyama sounds a solid addition to me.

Somebody claimed in the week that Wanyama has a medical agreed for the 22nd, then reports come out that we have agreed a fee, wow we might see some action!

We do need that yes. But this isn't a signing for that role in the team, nor is Dier.

Dembele's role is the more progressive of the two deep lying midfielders, and its from here along with the three behind the striker, that those moments need to come from.

Yes i know i should of added that we need a passer too as it looks like i was moaning a bit when i wasnt, i welcome the addition should he come in but at times we do tend to keep passing square when a defence splitting pass is required.

Understandable concerns about Wanyama's mobility and technical capabilities but I bet if you asked most opposition supporters, they'd say similar of Dier. It's like for like cover of a very good standard and price.

Fair points. Although I agree, he's esentially someone to back up or compete with Dier. He'll provide us with some steel against attacking sides in Europe which we desperately need if Dier ends up suspended or injured. I'd also like us to sign another central midfielder capable of pitching in with a few goals. We really lack goals from our current crop and I wouldn't be against letting go of Mason & Carroll to free up that space.

I think Mason and Nabil will stay but I can see Carroll being sold. Having Wanyama on the team will definitely help the likes of Mason/Nabil/Winks/Onomah play to their strengths. Especially Nabil, who I felt was pigeon holed as a DM when his strong suit is based on the attacking/possession side of the game.

11 mil for a back up/rotation DM is good business, VW might not be flashy or exciting but he was a necessity and for such a small fee means we will have money to spend elsewhere on more interesting targets.

Kante will be going to a bigger club to Tottenham.
I prefer the term 'richer club', but yeah, wouldnt suprise me if he has already agreed to join one of Europe's elite.

If we get Wanyama we have signed the best possible 'prem proven' realistic option for the DM spot, and I'm very happy with it. If we then go and get Batman we are on the verge of a very good window imo.

Unfortunately true.

No harm in triggering his clause and asking the question in the first week of the window though.

Although I'm sure if Poch wanted him we'd have sounded out his agent to gauge his interest and check on the kind of wages he'd want.

Anyway, we're a stronger squad with better depth if we complete this signing, so I'm happy.

I dont think we ever had a chance with kante but he would have been one hell of a signing.
