I think this one could be in a holding process until we decide on a forward. We are apparently interested in Antony makes sense to hold up the Bergwijn deal so we have a stronger negotiating position.

Not only that but if Utd cough up silly money for Antony in the meantime we can possibly ask for a higher fee.

£20m for Bergwijn is a steal. He may not have performed at his best for us but for a Dutch international, he is a steal.

We would want all 33m euros of it and rightly so. I'm surprised they would accept an offer to sell haller... He has done well for them.
Shows you the huge gap in quality in that league and the PL. But agree. Steven is heads above Haller and would be worth at least 33m €

Dortmund seem to have this weird ability to get players for decent fees. I'm sure if a PL club came in for Haller they'd be quoted closer to €50m. They play CL football every season and are full of top players.

I wonder if they do large sell on fees.

I straight up think Bergwijn is better than Antony, guys. Comparing his PSV video to Antony's in the Eredivise is an eye-opening experience. Berg is smarter, better passer, and imo quicker/better at 1v1s.

We really should hold out for £30m especially with the cash Ajax will be getting soon.

Edit - text translated from his article:

AMSTERDAM - The upcoming transfer of Sébastien Haller (27) to Borussia Dortmund should fill Ajax's war chest and put an end to the lack of clout in the transfer market. The German club has reached a personal agreement with the French-Ivorian striker on a five-year deal, but has yet to agree a deal with the Dutch champion. Ajax swept the first offer - 33 million euros plus bonuses - off the table and demands 40 million euros. It is expected that both clubs will find each other around 37 million euros in the coming days.

If they're getting €37m plus bonuses for haller, they'd better be offering a similar amount for bergwijn, who is a much better player. We shouldn't be selling him cheap, just because Ajax want to be cheap.

I dunno about that. Would Stevie score at the rate Haller has in the Champions League? Or even the Eredivisie?

They are different players tbf.

Berg should be looking at 30m euros for Ajax because he's Dutch and performing the national team etc. Anyway. this transfers looks down to formalities now.

Regardless of who we think is a better footballer, Haller has done a lot more in the past 2 years than Stevie hence the higher fee.

Haller was a total flop at West Ham so his rep over here isn't great. But in the past 2 seasons he's scored over 30 league goals for Ajax and ELEVEN goals in last season's Champions League, so his stock in Europe is high right now. In comparison, Bergwijn has 5 goals in all comps over the same period.

He's defo worth more than Stevie in the current market, especially given the dearth of decent number 9s out there.

Absolutely. It's never worked for us, so why should we enable them?!

If Man U sign De Jong, I wonder how much Ajax get from the transfer, as I suspect they would have negotiated a sell on clause. They could be waiting for that money too, especially now that Timber isn't going to Manchester. I wonder if we'd ask about Timber too actually?

Can we just give Dortmund our bank routing/account information? Let’s cut out the middle man and we can get Bergwijn ready for delivery.

Fee not quite there very advanced but as reported couple of weeks back looking at 2 separate deals to bring Antony the other way .
Interesting that it’s two separate deals, assumed that it would be connected although I know swaps are very rare to happen. Appreciate the info as always.
