All fair points but irrelevant if other offers don’t come in. Players are worth what teams are willing to pay.And yet they’ve made £300 (£s not Euros) profit on 8 players sales in the last 5 years.
Bergwijn is clearly at least a £25m player. International strikers do not go for less, unless in the last year of their contract. No way we should be selling Bergwijn to anyone for 18m euros (£15m). Similar with Lo Celso - great for Argentina, Villareal’s best player in their run to the CL semi final, if they want him they need to stump up the cash.
If Conte wanted Bergwijn and the player wanted to stay then we could easily turn down these offers.
But the reality is the opposite. Conte doesn’t play him and the player has publicly stated he wants to leave.
We’ll obviously try to get the best price we can for him but it’s better to accept a slightly lower fee than keep an unwanted player.
