Herc mentioned that Fulham wanted around £30 million plus a player on a free.. At least something to that effect. If im correct in having quoted Herc correctly then i can understand our reluctance to finalise the deal. Happy for this signing to drag on until next week. He's not coming in and immediately improving us.
That's just crazy. Last year of contract. Sess is not the messiah ffs. Fulham are vastly overrating him, perhaps because they don't have too many other assets? Someone said a while ago the Fulham chairman doesn't like Levy. Anyway, ridiculous. What's that saying? £20 is plenty.

Their calculation will be what gives them the greater chance of promotion, and PL TV revenue.

£20m to re-invest, or 1 year of Sessegnon in the Championship.

It's also true to say he wouldn't leave on a free. He would cost compensation, perhaps in the region of £10m or more.

Ings cost Liverpool in tribunal £8m + 20% profit sell on clause in 2016.

So really at £20m - the choice is loose £10m in value, or keep for a year.

He might not be worth more than £20-25m to us, but for them he might also not be worth loosing for less than £30-35m.

The reports saying the compensation would be 500k. It was Dan_KP i think.

Probably fine with no Sessegnon as long as Rose’s sale is not sanctioned. Chances are we would get him for compensation next summer and Fulham will massively regret it.

That's if he were to move abroad next summer.
Fine we get Standard Liege to sign him on a one year contract and loan him to us for a year for a loan fee twice the cost of the compensation, everyone's a winner, except Fulham and I don't care about them.:)

If that is the case and knowing how we have operated in the past, whats the more likely scenario? We buy him now for £20/30 million or wait 12 months and sign him for under a million quid. He's young so what is one more year plus he's injured now. Im not saying wait, Im just thinking what our dear leader might think.

Problem is other clubs may well come in as well at that point, and we either don't get him at all or have to agree a more lucrative contract.

Or Fulham could get promoted again, he could sign a new contract and it'd be back to square one !

Pretty certain that Sess is a decent kid, likes Fulham and did have the dream of playing in the side with his brother, so can't see him being a c0ck about things if he ended up staying, but just seems inconceivable that Fulham won't sell him this window, and i'm sure that's what Levy is banking on.

I'm just saying its a possibility. Especially if we want to spend that money on a bigger name and then keep Rose, for example.
