Talks between Tottenham and Everton continue over Richarlison transfer as Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and counterpart Bill Kenwright meet in London to discuss £60million deal

  • Tottenham have been targeting Everton forward RIcharlison with talks ongoing
  • Spurs chairman Daniel Levy met Everton counterpart Bill Kenwright in London
  • A £60million fee is being discussed as Spurs look to build attacking depth
  • Everton may be forced to sell in order to free up fees for manager Frank Lampard
Tottenham are continuing talks over a deal for Everton's £60million rated forward Richarlison.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy met with good friend and Everton counterpart Bill Kenwright for dinner at Scott's in London on Monday evening.

Various Tottenham players have been mentioned as potential makeweights though winger Steven Bergwijn, who was considered by Everton earlier in the window, has expressed a preference to join Ajax or another Champions League side.

Proposals involving Harry Winks have also been dismissed.
Basically they have read Twitter and wrote an article

This guy will be out Jota I’m sure. What happened with Romero - I must have missed it
He offered him commiserations after the Everton game via an Instagram post, and some believe Richarlison took it the wrong way. Just a big misunderstanding imo. Judge for yourself

Haven't seen this posted but thought it was really insightful. Essentially talks through his story. Lad comes across as extremely humble and genuine.

Found particularly interesting that he had an offer from Ajax on the table along with Watford's, opting for the latter (and rejecting UCL football) only to play in the PL.

I like this transfer, he is better than than Bergwijn and Moura so we now will have 4 really good attacking options in Son, Kane, Kulu and Richarlison. But imho we need one more still. I dont buy that he can play two positions. I mean I know he can but he will not play two at once. And Moura had a poor season really and with all the sympathy to him we should add another quality option to have five to choose. So so many games next season. If we want to compete we need more.
Don’t forget Perisic. He can easily provide 10G 10A in a season

I’m still hoping we go for another creative attacker tho. Richerlison brings a certain skill set to the table but the one thing he’s certainly not is creative. A solid addition but we really need some more creative, technical players in our ranks.

I'm still not convinced he's better than Stevie B. Wish Stevie would stay. But if Stevie is to leave hope we get Richarlison in
He will make us even more hated than we already are, but just have to live with that.

I'm was not a fan of his as he's one of those players you hate to play against but he has all the attributes that fit well with an attacker in our team. I think he'll be very good for us so I hope we can get the deal over the line.

I've been ambivalent about Richarlison because he's not a "sexy" signing (like a Martinez), and his shithousery is a turn off as a fan.

But that's what marks him out as a Conte player. He's someone who has the mentality to win at all costs., and will do anything to be successful. He seems to have a great temperament once you dig beneath the surface of his "on pitch persona". It's these intangibles, as much as his footballing skills, that make him an attractive proposition.

This is a kid (and he's a kid) who moved to another country and proved himself good enough to play in the strongest league in the world, and for his national team - all while adapting to a totally different culture thousands of miles from home. He's never declared a desire to leave, or made a fuss (as far as I'm aware) about the team around him.

He's shown strength of character, first by moving to test himself professionally, and by giving everything for two lower level teams. His numbers, given the lack of quality around him, the various managerial changes and the circumstances faced by his teams, are really solid.

He's the type of player who would run through walls for Conte, who can use Richarlison's strengths (pace, skill, stamina and power) and layer on greater nous and tactical discipline - if he's open and willing

I can see the appeal for Conte. I hope he'll be proven right.

Stevie has 1 season in his entire pro career with double digit league goals. Richarlison has 3 in the premier league.

So the daily mail read Jon Sopel's tweet and made a story out of it regurgitating a load of the same old stuff.
BBC round up quotes the Telegraph saying we've offered £20mil for Richardson. Load of bollocks but at least it's different.

I think the offer was £20m plus Bergwijn and if thats true then we are valuing Richarlison at £50m I'm guessing

He is definitely a more effective player than Stevie.

That’s not to say that, I’m the right environment and system, Stevie couldn’t be an excellent player - I’m sure he could be, and hopefully will be wherever he goes - but it doesn’t look like it’ll be for us.

What I would say is that Stevie at 20m is considerably better value than Richarlison at 60, but it is, what it is

It may been said before- me personally am very happy with Richarlison. Glad we avoided Jesus and Sterling. I’m not convinced either are any better than what we have or we can buy get. Both are very good players but we wouldn’t improve with them as starters every week.

Before we were linked I really would not have considered him. But now he is, and maybe this is the rose tinted / biased spectacles one has for their own club, he seems to be a really perfect fit for us. Both in terms of mentality and approach, but also his ability to play across the front three, leading the line of supporting from wide. I would be really disappointed if we did not get him now. Whilst Bergwijn is probably a more gifted player who was unlucky not to get more minutes for us, he does not have the same physicality as Richarlison who will be a much better fit for us.

Ok so I actually watched some compilations of his goals for Everton and Brazil. I don’t usually do this unless they are completed but hey! Anyway the one thing I did like is there are a variety of goals where he had no right to be getting there but managed to squeeze in to the position especially on headers (some of them are crackers!), solid movement to find an angle to get into which is good and will be important on corners as sometimes it feels a bit static. Like others have said he’s the only name I read on Everton’s team sheet and really think we will have problems plus he seems to score even against big boys. I think he offers something different and is tenacious. Hopefully if we get him Conte can leverage all that for us.

surely we have the best creative attacker in the country playing for us already in Kane - what Richarlson gives you is a different option he can lead the line and Kane drops off I think its about different solutions in the forward line which is where the creative spark will come from - I don''t think the manager is going to be playing with an artisan midfield player any time soon I think if we sign Richarlson that ship would have truly sailed as there isn't a place in the squad for a technical midfield player unless he has the versatility to play as a wide man which is why the links to Zanolo are interesting though unlikely

The holding out for c25m from Ajax on Bergwijn gives us strength in these types of negotiations now as we have a clear valuation for a player we may be willing to add to a deal. Cash of 30-35m on top of this would value a deal at 55-60m which is what everton have seemingly been posturing at. Reality is these get done as separate deals but the numbers still hold true.

Yep Kirsty I normally wait for the deal completion before heading to You Tube
