I think people underestimate the effects of pressure and confidence.

It's easier to play that way when you cost £1.5m. Being £30m brings a lot of pressure and we've seen before that it turns relaxed players into wooden ones.

He still gets a disproportionate amount of criticism from fans.

I remember when Newcastle beat us 1-2 at home in 2015. They had such an average team but Sissoko's abilty to carry the ball up the pitch, particularly towards the end of the match was what we clearly needed more of in the squad at that time. Even though I thought Josh Onomah would be that player.

I’ve been critical of Sissoko in the past and I feel it was very justified. I don’t get the point you’re trying to make? Newcastle has very vocal fans and demands performances from their players. They certainly let them know if they ain’t pulling their weight so he would’ve been used to playing under pressure already.
My expectations of Sissoko are pretty low, as long as he doesn’t give the ball away too often and breaks up opponents attacks I’m relieved. His offensive passing is still pretty poor, he can’t shoot, his touch is very suspect and he can be quite sloppy on the ball.

You know how this goes, you can compile any compilation on Youtube and make a player look like a world beater.

Erm, made it halfway through and there are not actually any skills, amazing or otherwise. Blocks, tackles, simple passes, and he skies it once. Odd compilation.

Watching all these Sissoko videos makes me wonder whether he could be converted into the ball playing centre half we crave?

Replace that with any compilation you find of him on YouTube then, point is that a 5 min vid can make anyone look good.

I hope i never have to see this gutless wonder in a spurs shirt ever again. So glad that Jenas picked out his hiding from the ball and making himself unavailable to receive a pass which is what he does every game. Cant believe he still gets game time let alone starts and finishes every bloody game.

No coincidence that our downturn in playing attractive football coincided with this guy becoming a regular, fire blanket to any attractive play, hides, and slows the game down when he does get the ball

If the players would rather Sissoko stayed because he’s great to be around the dressing room and thus happy to have a teammate who hides from the ball when we’re under pressure then these players are getting the medal collection they deserve.

Yep.

Someone needs to be ruthless. Sissoko may be well liked but he's certainly no inspiration on the pitch.

Times up
