Hopefully this kid will get some chances this spring. We really only have 3 AM's of the required quality in Alli, Eriksen and Lamela. Son is 4th in line, but I'd say he's more of an impact sub. After him we really lack in quality and I really hope Edwards get a few chances due to that.

Don't see why he can't get on the bench.

Against Sunderland we had 3 defenders, a pub striker & a bulldozer on the bench, it might be nice to add the option of a little craft for when we have zero answers for the opposition.

I think he's one of the few players in our squad capable of coming off the bench and making a difference in a game like that. As you say, the likelihood of cloggers like Jansenn and Sissoko making a difference against a 10 men behind the ball team is slim.

Sissoko had a spell of 3-4 games around Christmas were he was doing exactly that.

Yes I expect more of a return and consistency than that and it's frustrating as hell but there is a player in there.

So when can we expect to see this lad either getting a proper chance, or getting a loan? He's 18 now, so should realistically be knocking at the door if he's as special as everyone seems to think he is. He's clearly got some talent, can we harness it?

Did I see him sitting behind son today after he went off?

Good to see him getting that 1st team experience if so

I really hope he's fit enough to get some opportunities in the upcoming cup matches, and hopefully do well enough to force his way onto the bench for league matches. He has much more to offer in games where the opponent is parking the bus and making life difficult for us than our other bench options.

Not convinced. By all means stick him on the bench and throw him on if we're 3-0 up with 15 minutes to go, but if we're struggling to break a team down I'd rather not go for a hopeful punt on a teenager who has everything to prove. We have a great deal to play for this season, it isn't the right time to give a youngster some minutes in the hope he comes up trumps IMO - it's a nice idea, but we have to be realistic with him. His time will come, and of course if Poch throws him in it will be because he thinks he's the real deal, but there's presumably a reason that the next big thing is currently being left out in favour of under-performing first-teamers like Janssen and Sissoko. He'll keep until the summer when Poch can have a proper look at him in pre-season.

The reason he's been left out is because he's been injured for three months and only just returned to training. Every indication before he got injured was that Poch was slowly easing him into first team contention with substitute appearances in cup matches.

Sissoko and Janssen have had plenty of chances and haven't taken them. A bulldozer and a striker bereft of confidence are not exactly ideal tactical solutions to teams parking the bus and restricting space. Edwards' close control and creativity are much more along the lines of what we lack in these situations.

Regardless, he's going to have to earn his place with good performances in the cups. All I'm saying is that I hope he's fit enough to get those chances soon.

The three-month long injury shortly after his debut may have had something to do with it.

Vs bus parkers who are something of our achilles heel , getting the ball to Edwards inside the oppo pen area will cause alarm .Either conceding a pen or him beating a man to get a shot in .
