He'll be 29 this year and had two years left of his deal. We needed to shift a few of the older players and I think he was partly a casualty of that. His performances didn't make him untouchable in that regard, to say the least.

Too bad that the way we parted has seemingly given him something of a chip on his shoulder though.

I'm not too concerned about what he's said, I'm more concerned about why we've sold £75m worth of right back and replaced them with... KWP, Foyth and er Sánchez.

This is exactly wants wrong with majority of footballers. Big time charlie attitude. Wasnt that long ago Kieran you were playing RB for Burnley. Poch and the club helped you become an England regular.

Don’t know why he’s felt the need to speak out.

We took him from Burnley & helped turn him into an international footballer.

He got a move to a big European club, we got decent money for a 29 year old on the back of a very average (at best) season. Everyone should be happy.

Just keep your trap shut Kieran.

Give that man a new deal!

I still remember the post match reason he gave for leaving out Tripps and Toby.

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...-decision-trippier-alderweireld-a3938166.html

"Asked if Tripper and Alderweireld were injured, Pochettino said: "It was a technical decision. You can find it in the dictionary, technical decision. Maybe tactical also on the pitch, yes, it's tactical too"

Technical decision

A technical decision is a term used in boxing when a fight has to be stopped because of a headbutt.

Lamela coming on with 10 minutes to go in a CL game just to take the yellow card for kicking him. I can see it now. Trippier better hope Atletico aren't wearing their white shorts that night.

I think there was a lot of criticism in his play and arguments with other players on responsibility after games this culminated into it all boiling over. Don't want to point fingers but apparently him and Toby did a lot of finger pointing and shouting after one game which went OTT and caused them to be dropped for the next game. Then in further games where both played, Sanchez had to play RCB to keep Trips and Toby apart.

Not surprised. I remember a few times last season being at games when we conceded and it was either a trippier error or it came from down his side, he'd then turn to someone and try blame it on them.

It's probably because the journalists keep asking him the question.

Even with our problems at RB so far this season I'm happy not to have to see this guy pull our shirt on again - he was an absolute liability last year and cost us several goals ON HIS OWN. Absolutely useless.

Sounds like he lost his confidence to me. He mentions a few times his form was poor last season. This move will probably be just what he needs but we had to move him on

He also said that he wanted to stay so I guess the behind the scenes issues were that he wasn't wanted any longer.

Hats off to any player that plays in europe. I hope he integrates properly and learns the language. I want to see him do well.
I don't think anything that he's said recently is disrespectful or inaccurate so can't understand the offence caused to some on here??

Maybe Poch wanted to wait for the summer considering the situation we were in, Levy was always pretty fucking busy, I would say Trips would have been better off waiting for the summer if he really did want to stay but that's pretty much contradicted by what he was saying about not wanting to let the Athletico opportunity pass him by.
